Noise monitoring apparatus

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1982
An apparatus for monitoring the noise which impinges a human ear and for generating a signal representing the noise level accumulated over a period of time. Typically, the apparatus can be located in a hearing protector worn by a worker in a noisy environment.

Environmental noise monitor

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1974
An environmental noise monitor has been designed, constructed, and tested for the U. S. Environmental Protection Agency. The system includes a Brüel & Kjaer 4921 outdoor microphone system, a Wang 600-14 computing calculator as the digital controller and statistical analyzer, and a Nagra SJ tape recorder for analog recording.

Noise map validation by continuous noise monitoring

Applied Acoustics, 2011
Abstract This paper presents a comparison of two noise assessments in the Gdansk agglomeration in Poland. One is based on the noise map produced by computational method for the city in 2007, the second one is based on real data from continuous measurements acquired by a noise monitoring network operating in the city since 2008.

Noise monitoring system

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2005
A noise monitor for transmitting an actual sound (noise) when the noise level becomes higher than a regulation standard. In each noise detecting unit, the level of noise is measured through a microphone and a noise meter and input into a radio set. At the same time, an actual sound as noise is input through a microphone and a microphone amplifier into ...

A Community Noise Monitor

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1974
A low-cost device has been built for obtaining a histogram of community noise levels. Signals from a sound level meter or tape recorder are appropriately rectified and level sensed by ten comparators. From the output of the comparators and a logic network, currents are furnished to a bank of electrolytic storage cells, known as E-cells.

Aircraft Noise Monitoring

Aircraft Engineering and Aerospace Technology, 1979
Although it has been generally accepted that noise control is of great importance around airports, little consideration has been given to the instrumentation concept. The purpose of this article is to discuss various requirements to noise monitoring systems with respect to flexibility, reliability and operation.

Airport Noise Monitoring

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1972
This report describes the monitoring requirements of the proposed noise regulations for California airports. The requirements include measuring the noise of each aircraft under the takeoff and approach paths at points which are analogous to those of the Federal Aviation Regulation for aircraft certification.

Noise dosimeter for monitoring exposure to impulse noise

Applied Acoustics, 2005
Abstract Commercially available noise dosimeters do not perform properly in impulsive noise environments because they suffer from instrumentation limitations and lack metrics that characterize impulse noise. In this paper, a design concept is proposed for an impulse noise monitoring dosimeter that addresses the current dosimeter’s limited ...

Environmental noise monitoring and mapping

2017 40th International Spring Seminar on Electronics Technology (ISSE), 2017
Decline of environmental noise and subsequent pollution are one of the most important purposes for citizens, scientists and public representatives nowadays. Many European legislative initiatives and studies deal with environmental noise monitoring. The enabling factor for this ongoing development is the availability of low-cost and low-power devices ...

Analysis of Environmental Noise Monitors

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1978
Abstract : This report establishes criteria and performance guidelines desirable in environmental noise monitors that are achievable through state-of-the-art technology. To assess this technology, the performances of 10 available units were evaluated based on the following points: (1) Data reduction methods and analytic results; (2) Dynamic range; (3 ...
