Phase‐separation microstructure and mechanical properties of a ternary biocomposite evaluated by integrated AFM, AFM‐informed FEM, and in situ X‐ray CT. ABSTRACT This study investigates phase‐separated cellulose filler/poly(lactic acid) (PLA)/elastomer ternary composites to enhance the mechanical performance of bioplastics. Atomic force microscopy (AFM)

Using a Choice Experiment to Estimate the Benefits of a Reduction of Externalities in Urban Areas with Special Focus on Electrosmog [PDF]
Noise, air pollution and electromagnetic pollution (i.e. non-ionizing radiation, also called electrosmog) are typical negative local externalities in urban areas. They are side-effects of human and economic activity (e.g.

Selective Sequestration of Toxic NOx Gases by P‐Doped Graphene: A Density Functional Theory Study
P‐doped graphene (P‐grap) is explored as an NOx sensor through DFT simulations. The analysis of its geometry, binding energies, electronic properties, and atom‐in‐molecule characteristics demonstrates that P‐grap is a selective sensor for NOx among a mixture of various gases.

Abstract This study describes the process of developing a high‐impact, low‐cost, and low‐maintenance air ventilation system for anatomy facilities. It employed the strategic application of Value Engineering (VE), assuring that the air ventilation system meets contemporary threshold limit values (TLVs) for formaldehyde in the working zone of dissection ...

The impacts of biological invasions
ABSTRACT The Anthropocene is characterised by a continuous human‐mediated reshuffling of the distributions of species globally. Both intentional and unintentional introductions have resulted in numerous species being translocated beyond their native ranges, often leading to their establishment and subsequent spread – a process referred to as biological

ABSTRACT Basal and standard metabolic rate (BMR and SMR) are cornerstones of physiological ecology and are assumed to be relatively fixed intrinsic properties of organisms that represent the minimum energy required to sustain life. However, this assumption is conceptually flawed. Many core maintenance processes underlying SMR are temporally partitioned
