Locomotive Noise Reduction [PDF]
This paper presents the results of the investigation of the noise characteristics of the dual-voltage mainline electric locomotive. The study identified noise levels generated by the locomotive equipment that violate regulations.

Louvred Noise Barrier for Traffic Noise Reduction
Environmental issues near roads become more and more important in our society daily life. One of the most critical environmental issues is traffic noise. The present paper study louvred noise barrier designed by authors.

Noise Reduction in a Reputation Index [PDF]
Assuming that a time series incorporates “signal” and “noise” components, we propose a method to estimate the extent of the “noise” component by considering the smoothing properties of the state-space of the time series. A mild degree of smoothing in the

Adaptive Noise Reduction System [PDF]
Noise is an all-present environment pollutant, considered to be one of the greatest contemporary pollutants. World-wide, co-ordinated actions are conducted in order to develop systems which minimise the noise influence onto society. In this article we ...

Reduction of Guided Acoustic Wave Brillouin Scattering in Photonic Crystal Fibers [PDF]
Guided Acoustic Wave Brillouin Scattering (GAWBS) generates phase and polarization noise of light propagating in glass fibers. This excess noise affects the performance of various experiments operating at the quantum noise limit. We experimentally demonstrate the reduction of GAWBS noise in a photonic crystal fiber in a broad frequency range using ...

Noise reduction algorithm for glueball correlators [PDF]
We present an error reduction method for obtaining glueball correlators from Monte Carlo simulations of SU(3) lattice gauge theory. We explore the scalar and tensor channels at three different lattice spacings.

Reduced frequency noise in superconducting resonators [PDF]
We report a reduction of the frequency noise in coplanar waveguide superconducting resonators. The reduction of 7 dB is achieved by removing the exposed dielectric substrate surface from the region with high electric fields and by using NbTiN. In a model-analysis the surface of NbTiN is found to be a negligible source of noise, experimentally supported

Noise reduction of dental drill noise [PDF]
Dental drills produce a characteristic noise that is uncomfortable for patients and is also known to be harmful to dentists under prolonged exposure. It is therefore desirable to protect the patient and dentist whilst allowing two-way communication, which will require a headphone - type system. Re-establishing good communication between the dentist and

Transportation Noise—Airplane Noise Reduction
Current Federal noise regulations will be discussed along with their impact on community noise exposure. Brief references will be made to specific technical areas where significant advances in noise reduction have been made and to noise reduction goals for the future.
