NOISE REDUCTION IN ACOUSTIC DISDROMETRY
This paper reports progress on the development of a novel rain disdrometer and the methods of noise reduction. The proposed instrument will measure the raindrop size distribution using the sound generated by raindrops landing in a tank of water. When an incident hydrometeor impacts on the surface of a liquid, two processes create an acoustic signal ...

Treatment planning with a 2.5 MV photon beam for radiation therapy
Abstract Purpose The shallow depth of maximum dose and higher dose fall‐off gradient of a 2.5 MV beam along the central axis that is available for imaging on linear accelerators is investigated for treatment of shallow tumors and sparing the organs at risk (OARs) beyond it.

Low velocity impact response and post impact compression behaviour of ESTM-fabric/3266 composites
A novel kind of lattice-distributed ESTM-fabrics (ES-L) and random-distributed ESTM-fabrics (ES-R) were developed by using polyethersulfone (PES) and U3160 according to ex-situ toughening technology.

Molecular Filters for Noise Reduction [PDF]
Living systems are inherently stochastic and operate in a noisy environment, yet despite all these uncertainties, they perform their functions in a surprisingly reliable way. The biochemical mechanisms used by natural systems to tolerate and control noise are still not fully understood, and this issue also limits our capacity to engineer reliable ...

Vector casting for noise reduction [PDF]
AbstractWe report a new method for the reduction of noise from spectra. This method is based on casting vectors from one data point to the following data points of the noisy spectrum. The noise‐reduced spectrum is computed from the casted vectors within a margin that is identified by an envelope‐finder algorithm.

Impact of flexible noise control (FNC) image processing parameters on portable chest radiography
Abstract There is a lack of understanding in the performance of flexible noise control (FNC) processing, which is used in digital radiography on a scanner vendor and has four parameters each involving multiple options. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of FNC on portable chest imaging. An anthropomorphic chest phantom was imaged using

Abstract Purpose To evaluate the impact of various noise reduction algorithms and template matching parameters on the accuracy of markerless tumor tracking (MTT) using dual‐energy (DE) imaging. Methods A Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator was used to acquire a series of alternating 60 and 120 kVp images (over a 180° arc) using fast kV switching, on ...
