Noise sensitivity and multiple chemical sensitivity scales: Properties in a population based epidemiological study

open access: yesNoise and Health, 2012
Noise sensitivity is considered to be a self-perceived indicator of vulnerability to stressors in general and not noise alone. Multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS) has to some extent been accompanied by noise sensitivity, indicating a moderate ...

A Proposal to Use Determinants of Annoyance in Wind Farm Planning and Management

open access: yesWind, 2022
Wind energy in Europe is expected to grow at a steady, high pace, but opposition from residents to local wind farm plans is one of the obstacles to further growth.

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Single‐cell DNA methylation profiling: Technologies, computation, and applications in precision oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Single‐cell DNA methylation (scDNAme) profiling maps epimutational clonal evolution, revealing mechanisms of malignancy and therapeutic resistance across diverse cancer types. By providing a high‐resolution landscape of intratumoral heterogeneity, these technologies empower precise patient stratification, guide the development of enhanced ...

Patterns of physiological and affective responses to vehicle pass-by noises

open access: yesNoise and Health, 2013
Traffic noise is considered causing annoyance and severe health effects like cardiovascular disease (CVD). The present laboratory study examines the importance of individual factors, namely age, gender and personality traits on short term physiological ...

Spatial biology in cancer epigenetics

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Spatial epigenomics combines molecular profiling with tissue architecture to reveal how gene regulation is organized within intact tissues. In cancer, these technologies uncover the mechanisms driving tumor heterogeneity and microenvironmental interactions, opening new opportunities for biomarker discovery and precision medicine.

Noise Sensitivities in Dogs: An Exploration of Signs in Dogs with and without Musculoskeletal Pain Using Qualitative Content Analysis

open access: yesFrontiers in Veterinary Science, 2018
Noise sensitivity is a common behaviour problem in dogs. In humans, there is a well-established relationship between painful conditions and the development of fear-related avoidance responses.

On the Noise Sensitivity of the Randomized SVD

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Information Theory
The randomized singular value decomposition (R-SVD) is a popular sketching-based algorithm for efficiently computing the partial SVD of a large matrix. When the matrix is low-rank, the R-SVD produces its partial SVD exactly; but when the rank is large, it only yields an approximation.

Intrapatient tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution in an autopsy study of metastatic salivary gland cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumour heterogeneity and clonal evolution of metastatic salivary gland cancer were evaluated in two patients with adenoid carcinoma and one patient with myoepithelial carcinoma. Radiology‐guided autopsy enabled multi‐region sampling (total samples n = 149), followed by whole‐genome sequencing and phylogenetic reconstruction (17 tumour samples, 4–7 per ...

Statistical analysis based on a two-staged SEM-SVM approach for environmental noise annoyance prediction and identification of influencing factors [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Human Capital in Urban Management
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: Noise pollution is an environmental stressor that is mainly caused due to heavy transportation in urban scenarios. Traffic noise is a growing concern in urban environments, impacting public health and well-being.
