A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

Noise sensitivity impacts the evaluation of sleep due to vibration and noise from freight trains [Elektronisk resurs]

open access: yes, 2013
Freight trains are expected to increase on the European railway network. Freight trains are particularly problematic with regards to generation of low frequency vibration and noise which has the potential to propagate to nearby homes and influence ...

Effects of noise on visual orienting [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
Eleven experiments are reported which examine the effects of 90 dB (A) white noise on the processes which govern orienting of attention in visual space. The selectivity hypothesis argues that noise alters the priorities which govern stimulus selection so

Additive Gaussian Process Regression for Predictive Design of High‐Performance, Printable Silicones

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A chemistry‐aware design framework for tuning printable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for vat photopolymerization (VPP) is developed using additive Gaussian process (GP) modeling. Polymer network mechanics informs variable groupings, feasible formulation constraints, and interaction variables.

Effects of human factors on the interaction between visual scene and noise annoyance

open access: yes, 2017
The relationship between sound exposure and noise annoyance has been investigated in-depth in recent decades, yet the influence of visual factors on auditory perception is not completely understood.

Air‐Pressure–Actuated Vibroacoustic Metamaterial With Tunable Bandgap: Design, Modeling, and Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This article presents the design, modeling, and characterization of air‐pressure–actuated programmable vibroacoustic metamaterials (PVAMM). The study focuses on leveraging air pressure to dynamically tune resonance frequencies for effective noise attenuation.

Noise as a Computational Resource

open access: yes, 2006
In systems far from equilibrium, such as cellular biomolecular assemblies, energetic input is converted into systematic execution of function. The functional machinery comprises transport and interconversion of matter, as well as signalling systems and ...

Noise landing charges and passengers' choice of airport. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
This study demonstrates how aircraft noise can be translated into a form of landing charge. The objectives of the thesis were to develop noise landi'ng charges for six of the major airports in England and to determine what the implication it has on ...

Field Report from Collaborative Research Center 1625: Heterogeneous Research Data Management Using Ontology Representations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A unified research data management framework for heterogeneous materials data is presented. The system integrates multimodal datasets using ontologies and knowledge graphs, enabling interoperability and FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) data principles. By linking data across scales and workflows, it supports reproducible, Artifitial
