The visual perception sensitivity for achromatic noise and chromatic noise
2013 IEEE International Conference on Image Processing, 2013We often need to consider the influence on human perception when we develop an image processing algorithm or design parameters for image processing. The perception of color noise is also important for understanding the human vision system (HVS). Although we can use the CSF to express the property of achromatic noise appearance, it is not so easy to be ...

Noise sensitivity and reactions to noise and other environmental conditions
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2003This article integrates findings from the literature and new results regarding noise sensitivity. The new results are based on analyses of 28 combined datasets (N=23 038), and separate analyses of a large aircraft noise study (N=10 939). Three topics regarding noise sensitivity are discussed, namely, its relationship with noise exposure, its working ...

Road traffic noise, noise sensitivity and psychological disorder
Psychological Medicine, 1993SynopsisThe relationship between traffic noise exposure and psychological morbidity was assessed using the population-based Caerphilly Collaborative Survey of 2398 men from Caerphilly, South Wales. The findings showed that traffic noise exposure levels were strongly associated with annoyance to noise.

Noise sensitivity of the ADC histogram test
IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1998In the paper, the authors consider the performance of histogram-based analog to digital converter (ADC) testing under the assumption of input-equivalent wideband noise, which models either noise sources inside the device or unwanted disturbances corrupting the stimulus signal employed for carrying out the test.

NOISE-SENSITIVITY IN MACHINE TOOL VIBRATIONS
International Journal of Bifurcation and Chaos, 2006We consider the effect of random variation in the material parameters in a model for machine tool vibrations, specifically regenerative chatter. We show that fluctuations in these parameters appear as both multiplicative and additive noise in the model. We focus on the effect of additive noise in amplifying small vibrations which appear in subcritical

Effects of noise sensitivity on psychophysiological responses to building noise [PDF]
The present study aims to explore the effects of noise sensitivity on psychophysiological responses to floor impact noises and road traffic noise. A standard impact source (i.e. an impact ball) and two real impact sources (i.e.

Noise sensitivity: A neurophenomenological perspective
Medical Hypotheses, 2015This paper addresses the current limitations of noise sensitivity research and the benefit of undertaking a neurophenomenological approach of investigation. It begins by questioning the invariance of noise sensitivity across different studies and contexts and argues that these are issues associated with the psychometric construct rather than the ...

Comparison between noise annoyance and noise sensitivity
INTER-NOISE and NOISE-CON Congress and Conference Proceedings, 2023This study examined the relationship between noise sensitivity and noise annoyance. As part of a collaboration between the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology in Japan and the National Research Council Canada related to the acoustic requirements for dwellings intended for aging in place, a pilot subjective study of noise ...

Sensor spectral sensitivities, noise measurements, and color sensitivity
SPIE Proceedings, 2008This article proposes new measurements for evaluating the image quality of a camera, particularly on the reproduction of colors. The concept of gamut is usually a topic of interest, but it is much more adapted to output devices than to capture devices (sensors). Moreover, it does not take other important characteristics of the camera into account, such
