Dynamics of a FitzHugh-Nagumo system subjected to autocorrelated noise [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We analyze the dynamics of the FitzHugh-Nagumo (FHN) model in the presence of colored noise and a periodic signal. Two cases are considered: (i) the dynamics of the membrane potential is affected by the noise, (ii) the slow dynamics of the recovery ...

A Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
Block Diagram of the Robust Adaptive One‐Sample‐Ahead Preview Super‐Twisting Sliding Mode Controller. ABSTRACT This article introduces a discrete‐time robust adaptive one‐sample‐ahead preview super‐twisting sliding mode controller. A stability analysis of the controller by Lyapunov criteria is developed to demonstrate its robustness in handling both ...

Planar Solid‐State Nanopores Toward Scalable Nanofluidic Integration Based on CMOS Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We present a scalable silicon‐based fabrication strategy for planar solid‐state nanopores to enable their integration with complex nanofluidic systems. Prototype devices demonstrate normal voltage‐current characteristics, good noise performance, and appreciable streaming currents. Our CMOS‐compatible fabrication process offers precise geometric control

A Review of Neural Network-Based Image Noise Processing Methods

open access: yesSensors
This review explores the current landscape of neural network-based methods for digital image noise processing. Digital cameras have become ubiquitous in fields like forensics and medical diagnostics, and image noise remains a critical factor for ensuring

Suppression of extraneous thermal noise in cavity optomechanics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Extraneous thermal motion can limit displacement sensitivity and radiation pressure effects, such as optical cooling, in a cavity-optomechanical system. Here we present an active noise suppression scheme and its experimental implementation.

Investigation of Laser Ablation and Brush Pre‐Treatments for AlCu Cold Roll Bonding in Oxygen‐Free Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Perceptual Enhancement of Low Light Images Based on Two-Step Noise Suppression

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Low-light images are seriously corrupted by noise due to the low signal-to-noise ratio. In low intensity, just-noticeable-difference (JND) is high, and thus the noise is not perceived well by human eyes.

Noise suppressor [PDF]

open access: yes, 1974
Suppressor reduces noise propagated through ducts. It provides high attenuation in given duct length. Entire device forms acoustic trap which utilizes reflective elements on ends to direct sound energy into sound-dissipating element in center.

Microscopic analysis of shot-noise suppression in nondegenerate diffusive conductors [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
We present a theoretical investigation of shot-noise suppression due to long-range Coulomb interaction in nondegenerate diffusive conductors. Calculations make use of an ensemble Monte Carlo simulator self-consistently coupled with a one-dimensional ...

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.
