Five-Step Phase-Shift-Based Multiwavelength Averaging for Extrinsic Fabry–Perot Interferometric Sensors

open access: yesPhotonics, 2023
In order to address issues such as low demodulation accuracy, large demodulation errors, small dynamic range, and complex algorithms for the extrinsic Fabry–Perot interferometric (EFPI) sensor, a five-step phase-shift algorithm based on a multiwavelength

EMD-based filtering (EMDF) of low-frequency noise for speech enhancement

open access: yes, 2012
An Empirical Mode Decomposition based filtering (EMDF) approach is presented as a post-processing stage for speech enhancement. This method is particularly effective in low frequency noise environments.

Oncogenic DMTF1β promotes cancer cell motility by regulating autophagy through ULK1 stabilization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the current study, we demonstrate that the oncogene DMTF1β regulates ULK1 stability by reducing its proteasomal degradation in cancer cells. This stabilization enables ULK1 to induce autophagy, which in turn facilitates cancer cell migration. Consequently, reduced DMTF1β levels lead to decreased autophagy and impaired cancer cell migration.

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Impulsive Noise Suppression from Images with the Noise Exclusive Filter

open access: yesEURASIP Journal on Advances in Signal Processing, 2004
A novel impulsive noise elimination filter, entitled noise exclusive filter (NEF), which shows a high performance at the restoration of images distorted by impulsive noise, is proposed in this paper.

Hyperosmotic stress‐induced redistribution of pre‐mRNA cleavage factor I subunits is associated with shifts in alternative polyadenylation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

Low-Light Image Enhancement With Regularized Illumination Optimization and Deep Noise Suppression

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2020
Maritime images captured under low-light imaging condition easily suffer from low visibility and unexpected noise, leading to negative effects on maritime traffic supervision and management.

Noise reduction mechanisms of active noise barriers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The sound field and acoustic power flow from different regions around an active noise barrier are analyzed using a two-dimensional numerical model. Results show that the noise reduction of the active noise barrier can be described as a combination of ...

Design of Electromagnetic Bandgap Structures in Glass Interposers Based on Dispersion Analysis for Signal and Power Integrity Improvement

open access: yesIEEE Access
This article proposes dispersion analysis for an efficient design of electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structures in glass interposers to suppress power/ground noise coupling. The proposed method considered design parameters such as patch, through glass via (
