Polygenic risk score and prostate specific antigen predict death from prostate cancer in men with intermediate aggressive cancer

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, EarlyView.
What's New? Using 21 SNPs, two novel PRS were constructed and used to develop two new machine‐learning classifiers, one for the detection of prostate cancer and the other for the prediction of its aggressiveness and subsequent mortality. The classifier for disease detection is built using the PRS as the sole feature, whereas the one for disease ...

Efficacy of Fetal Ear Length as a Prenatal Marker of Chromosomal Anomalies: A Prospective, Multicenter Cohort Study in a Southern European Population

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ultrasound, EarlyView.
Fetal ear length (FEL) correlates with gestational age and may help detect chromosomal anomalies. This study developed a nomogram for a Southern European population, showing high measurement reliability. While FEL ≤ 5th percentile increased anomaly risk, its moderate sensitivity and specificity limit clinical utility.

A prospective adaptive utility trial to validate performance of a novel urine exosome gene expression assay to predict high-grade prostate cancer in patients with prostate-specific antigen 2-10ng/ml at initial biopsy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
BACKGROUND: Discriminating indolent from clinically significant prostate cancer (PCa) in the initial biopsy setting remains an important issue. Prospectively evaluated diagnostic assays are necessary to ensure efficacy and clinical adoption.

Emerging Role of MRI‐Based Artificial Intelligence in Individualized Treatment Strategies for Hepatocellular Carcinoma: A Narrative Review

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is the most common subtype of primary liver cancer, with significant variability in patient outcomes even within the same stage according to the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer staging system. Accurately predicting patient prognosis and potential treatment response prior to therapy initiation is crucial for ...

Tumor Habitats Based on Multiparametric MRI Distinguish Atypical Glioblastoma From Primary Central Nervous System Lymphoma: Imaging‐Pathologic Correlation

open access: yesJournal of Magnetic Resonance Imaging, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Atypical glioblastoma (GBM) (minimal or no necrosis on MRI) and primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) are difficult to distinguish on MRI; whether tumor habitat can more accurately distinguish atypical GBM from PCNSL remains uncertain.

Effects of surgical management for gastrointestinal stromal tumor patients with liver metastasis on survival outcomes

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology
PurposeTo investigate the effect of surgical resection on survival in gastrointestinal stromal tumors synchronous liver metastasis (GIST-SLM) and to develop clinically usable predictive models for overall survival (OS) and cancer-specific survival (CSS ...
