Development and Validation of a Nomogram Incorporating Preoperative N‐Terminal Pro‐Brain Natriuretic Peptide to Predict Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events in Renal Transplant Recipients

open access: yesOrgan Medicine, EarlyView.
We developed and validated a preoperative nomogram incorporating NT‐proBNP to predict major adverse cardiovascular events in renal transplant recipients. Using a LASSO‐Cox model based on 582 training and 181 validation cases, we identified NT‐proBNP, age, body mass index, diabetes, and retransplantation as key predictors.

Shuttle landing facility cloud cover study: Climatological analysis and two tenths cloud cover rule evaluation [PDF]

open access: yes
The two-tenths cloud cover rule in effect for all End Of Mission (EOM) STS landings at the Kennedy Space Center (KSC) states: 'for scattered cloud layers below 10,000 feet, cloud cover must be observed to be less than or equal to 0.2 at the de-orbit burn

A prospective adaptive utility trial to validate performance of a novel urine exosome gene expression assay to predict high-grade prostate cancer in patients with prostate-specific antigen 2-10ng/ml at initial biopsy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
BACKGROUND: Discriminating indolent from clinically significant prostate cancer (PCa) in the initial biopsy setting remains an important issue. Prospectively evaluated diagnostic assays are necessary to ensure efficacy and clinical adoption.

Sex differences in plasma clozapine and norclozapine concentrations in clinical practice and in relation to body mass index and plasma glucose concentrations: a retrospective survey [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Background Clozapine is widely prescribed and, although effective, can cause weight gain and dysglycemia. The dysmetabolic effects of clozapine are thought to be more prevalent in women with this gender on average attaining 17 % higher plasma clozapine ...

Factors Associated With Liver Fibrosis in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes and the Predictive Value of CHI3L1

open access: yesPortal Hypertension &Cirrhosis, EarlyView.
In a retrospective cohort of 236 patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM), metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) was common and significant fibrosis (liver stiffness measurement [LSM] ≥8 kPa) was frequently observed. Serum chitinase‐3‐like protein 1 (CHI3L1) correlated with LSM (r = 0.48) and remained an independent predictor of ...

Personalizing the Prediction of Colorectal Cancer Prognosis by Incorporating Comorbidities and Functional Status into Prognostic Nomograms

open access: yesCancers, 2019
Despite consistent evidence that comorbidities and functional status (FS) are strong prognostic factors for colorectal cancer (CRC) patients, these important characteristics are not considered in prognostic nomograms.

Machine learning‐based predictive models versus traditional risk scores in hemodialysis patients with comorbid urolithiasis

open access: yesPrecision Medical Sciences, EarlyView.
Machine learning‐based predictive models outperform traditional risk scores in hemodialysis patients with comorbid urolithiasis by capturing nonlinear, dialysis‐specific interactions. These approaches enable more accurate prediction of stone recurrence, sepsis, hospitalization, and mortality, supporting personalized risk stratification and precision ...

Segmentation influence on the generalizability of the overall survival models in CT‐based oropharyngeal carcinoma patients

open access: yesPrecision Radiation Oncology, EarlyView.
Highly repeatable RFs (ICC > 0.7) significantly enhances the generalizability and clinical applicability of radiomic‐based predictive models. Abstract Objectives To evaluate the impact of tumor volume segmentation variability on the repeatability of radiomic features (RFs) and to determine how RF repeatability influences the generalizability of ...

Nomograms based on preoperative multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging for prediction of molecular subgrouping in medulloblastoma: results from a radiogenomics study of 111 patients

open access: yesNeuro-Oncology, 2018
Background Novel biological insights have led to consensus classification of medulloblastoma into 4 distinct molecular subgroups-wingless (WNT), sonic hedgehog (SHH), Group 3, and Group 4.
