Sliding Mode Control in Aerospace Applications: A Survey

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sliding mode control (SMC) enjoys robustness to matched and unmatched (in the case of minimum phase input‐output dynamics) bounded perturbations, and finite time convergence. Second‐order and higher‐order sliding mode control systems (2‐SMC/HOSMC) retain all the advantages of sliding mode control, but in addition can be applied to systems of ...

Feedback Linearisation with State Constraints

open access: yesInternational Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Feedback Linearisation (FBL) is a widely used technique that applies feedback laws to transform input‐affine nonlinear control systems into linear control systems, allowing for the use of linear controller design methods such as pole placement.

Machine learning‐driven advances in carbon‐based quantum dots: Opportunities accompanied by challenges

open access: yesResponsive Materials, EarlyView.
Machine learning provides a unifying framework to connect structure, fluorescence properties, and applications of carbon‐based quantum dots. This review highlights how data‐driven strategies enable fluorescence regulation, reveal underlying mechanisms, and accelerate the rational design of functional carbon dots.

Big Bird: A global dataset of birds in drone imagery annotated to species level

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
Drones are a valuable tool for surveying birds, but manually detecting and identifying birds in drone images is costly. We assembled a diverse dataset of 23 865 images of birds captured with 21 different drones across 11 countries. We labelled 4824 of these images, detailing the location, species, posture category, age category, and sex of 49 990 birds

How Aware Are Consumers of Water Used in Agri‐Food Products? Exploring the Misconception Between the Perceived and the Actual Water Footprint

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Understanding the environmental impact of food production is critical to promoting sustainable consumption patterns. This study explores the gap between consumers' perceived water footprint (PWF) and the actual water footprint (AWF) of selected agri‐food products in Italy, including crop‐ and animal‐based products. A survey conducted through a

From Ambition to Authenticity: How Transparent Sustainability Practices Rebuild Stakeholder Trust

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Stakeholder trust is central to advancing sustainable development, yet it is increasingly strained as corporate sustainability commitments expand faster than verifiable performance. This study examines how authenticity and transparency in corporate sustainability practices influence the formation and maintenance of stakeholder trust under ...

The Macro Vulnerabilities to the Clean Energy Transition: An Empirical Assessment

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The macro environment is one of the analytical levels of the multilevel transition perspective that has the potential to shape the clean energy transition. Following the Political, Economic, Social and Technological (PEST) framework, the present study analyzes the paths by which these four macro dimensions jointly shape wind, solar, and ...

Two hearts that beat as one: Signals, narratives, and financing (less) novel ventures via equity crowdfunding

open access: yesStrategic Entrepreneurship Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Research Summary Financial resource acquisition is crucial for ventures but hindered by uncertainty. While signaling mitigates this uncertainty, its effectiveness hinges on venture novelty and the narratives used to clarify embedded information. Adopting a configurational lens, we examine the interplay among novelty, signals, and narratives in
