Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The R package Rsubread is easier, faster, cheaper and better for alignment and quantification of RNA sequencing reads

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2018
The first steps in the analysis of RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) data are usually to map the reads to a reference genome and then to count reads by gene, by exon or by exon-exon junction. These two steps are at once the most common and also typically the most

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Extracting the Non-ObservableStates in Alignment & Calibration Process for Gimballed Inertial Navigation Systems [PDF]

open access: yesفصلنامه علوم و فناوری فضایی, 2014
This paper presents a method for calculation the non observable states in alignment and calibration process in gimballed inertial navigation system, using estimation method in static linear system and heuristic optimization algorithms. The non observable

Basel III and CEO compensation: a new regulation attempt after the crisis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The paper analyzes the interaction between an endogenous capital structure and investment decision, and the incentive scheme of bank executives. We show that the implementation of capital requirements, which are contingent on compensation schemes, drive ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

A methionine‐lined active site governs carbocation stabilization and product specificity in a bacterial terpene synthase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals a unique active site enriched in methionine residues and demonstrates that these residues play a critical role by stabilizing carbocation intermediates through novel sulfur–cation interactions. Structure‐guided mutagenesis further revealed variants with significantly altered product profiles, enhancing pseudopterosin formation. These
