Optic disc edema in non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy

Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, 2007
We investigated the clinical characteristics, time to resolution and the factors that influence it, and evolutionary pattern of optic disc edema (ODE) in non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NA-AION). Our study was conducted in 591 consecutive patients (749 eyes) with NA-AION who fulfilled our inclusion criteria.

OCT angiography of acute non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy

Journal Français d'Ophtalmologie, 2017
To describe changes of the retinal peripapillary microvasculature on optical coherence tomography angiography (OCT-A) in non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic (NAION) neuropathy.Observational study of 10 patients at the acute phase of NAION. OCT-A was performed using a 3mm×3mm square centered on the optic disc (Cirrus HD-OCT with Angioplex, Carl Zeiss ...

Intravitreal triamcinolone injections in non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy

Graefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, 2013
In non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NA-AION), no treatments have demonstrated to be effective in recovering visual loss in randomized clinical trials. Oral steroids have been evaluated, and small series of intravitreal triamcinolone acetonide (IVTA) injection in NA-AION have been reported.

Non-arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (NAION)

2014
A 65-year-old male presented with acute, painless vision loss in the lower portion of his left eye (OS) for one day. Past medical history was significant for hypertension, hyperlipidemia, and coronary artery disease with previous coronary artery stenting. Significant medications included aspirin and clopidogrel (Plavix).

Non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy with retinal emboli

Neuro-Ophthalmology, 2001
We report a case of non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) associated with retinal emboli in a 68-year-old man with decreased vision. Carotid Doppler imaging revealed critical stenosis (80–99%) of the ipsilateral internal carotid artery. Carotid endarterectomy was performed and two weeks postoperatively a partial improvement in visual

Non-arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (NAION)

2018
A 65-year-old male patient entered a local hospital with visual complaints of a black shadow in his temporal field OD, which rapidly grew larger in the subsequent 3 days. He was given prednisolone 4# bid for 10 days. However, there was no improvement after medication. He visited us for a second opinion concerning blurry vision in the right eye.

Non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy and refraction.

Bulletin de la Societe belge d'ophtalmologie, 1997
A small cup-disk ratio has been reported as a risk factor in non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy. Hyperopia is possibly related with a small cup-disk ratio. The purpose of the present study is to compare the refraction of 37 eyes with non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy with a sex and age matched control group of 74 eyes.

Glutathione-S-Transferase Deletions and Non-arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy

Molecular Neurobiology, 2015
In this study, we aimed at investigating the association between glutathione-S-transferase (GSTM1 and GSTT1) deletion genotypes and susceptibility to non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION). We hope our findings may contribute to the understanding NAION pathogenesis and provide some clues for the prevention and treatment of optic ...

Treatment of Non-Arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy (NAION)

2019
Non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (NAION) is the most common acute optic neuropathy in older individuals and usually occurs in patients with vascular risk factors and a “disc at risk” (i.e., a small optic nerve head and an absent or small physiologic cup).

Clinical Features of Non-arteritic Anterior Ischemic Optic Neuropathy

2011
