Joint Antenna Detection and Channel Estimation for Non-Coherent User Terminals

open access: green2019 IEEE 20th International Workshop on Signal Processing Advances in Wireless Communications (SPAWC), 2019
In this paper we propose a method of improving channel estimates for non-coherent terminals with channels that can be considered constant over multiple time slots. The terminals have multiple antennas and are free to choose whichever antenna they want to use in each time slot.

High-dimensional Metric Combining for Non-coherent Molecular Signal Detection [PDF]

open access: greenIEEE Transactions on Communications, 2019
In emerging Internet-of-Nano-Thing (IoNT), information will be embedded and conveyed in the form of molecules through complex and diffusive medias. One main challenge lies in the long-tail nature of the channel response causing inter-symbol-interference (ISI), which deteriorates the detection performance.

Code Design for Non-Coherent Detection of Frame Headers in Precoded Satellite Systems [PDF]

open access: green, 2019
In this paper we propose a simple method for generating short-length rate-compatible codes over $\mathbb{Z}_M$ that are robust to non-coherent detection for $M$-PSK constellations.

Towards Implementation of Neural Networks for Non-Coherent Detection MIMO systems

open access: green2022 IEEE 96th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC2022-Fall), 2022
In this paper, we propose the use of quantized neural networks to perform non coherent MIMO detector in sub-TeraHertz (THz) communications. Implementing neural networks is challenging because operations are performed using a high number of bits. This results in slow and energy consuming computations.

The BEAST for Maximum-Likelihood Detection in Non-Coherent MIMO Wireless Systems [PDF]

open access: green2010 IEEE International Conference on Communications, 2010
Next generation wireless systems have to be able to efficiently deal with fast fading environments in order to achieve high spectral efficiency. Using multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems and exploiting receive diversity, the spectral efficiency can be greatly increased.

Combined Coherent and Non-Coherent Long-Time Integration Method for High-Speed Target Detection Using High-Frequency Radar [PDF]

open access: goldRemote Sensing
High-frequency (HF) radar plays a crucial role in the detection of far-range, stealth, and high-speed targets. Nevertheless, the echo signal of such targets typically exhibits a low signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and significant amplitude fluctuations ...

Interleaver design for trellis-coded differential 8-PSK modulation with non-coherent detection [PDF]

open access: green, 1988
The effect of finite interleaver size on bit error rate (BER) performance of coded 8-DPSK is determined by means of computer simulations. The losses evaluated in this way include the SNR degradation due to the timing and frequency errors of the symbol ...
