Non-contact temperature measurement

NDT & E International, 1991
Three methods for noncontact temperature measurement are presented. Ideal gas thermometry is realized by using laser-induced fluorescence to measure the concentration of mercury atoms in a Hg-Ar mixture in the vicinity of hot specimens. Emission polarimetry is investigated by measuring the spatially resolved intensities of polarized light from a hot ...

Non-contact resistivity measurements

Proceedings, 1996
Resistivity method finds wide application in many countries for the problems of near-surface geophysics. Frequently at field work by a resistivity method some problems of galvanic contacts with the ground occurs, for example at rocky surfaces, on dry sand, in permafrost regions, on a snow and an ice surface, on asphalt and concrete in cities, etc.

Non-contact anthropometric measurements in newborn patients

2020 IEEE International Symposium on Medical Measurements and Applications (MeMeA), 2020
New born patients require a frequent and periodic collection of some anthropometric data to evaluate their correct growth, particularly during the first weeks of their life. This information allows to eventual detect slow growth rate potentially related to some pathologies of the neonate.

Non-contact measurement of thermal diffusivity in tissue

Physics in Medicine and Biology, 2001
We demonstrate the application of an infrared (IR) imaging technique for non-contact determination of thermal diffusivity in biological materials. The proposed method utilizes pulsed laser excitation to produce an initial three-dimensional temperature distribution in tissue, and records IR images of subsequent heat diffusion.

The non-contact human-height measurement scheme

2011 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics, 2011
There are several methods used to measure human height; it includes contact and non-contact measurements. In this research, we develop a fixed laser point triangular distance measurement (FLPTDM) method to construct a non-contact human height measurement scheme.

Non-Contact Measurement of Line Voltage

IEEE Sensors Journal, 2016
This paper presents a capacitively coupled non-contact voltage sensor, which is specifically optimized for monitoring line voltages ranging from plug level to distribution levels at thousands of volts. The sensor uses a new arrangement of electrostatic pickups to measure the rate of change of an unknown potential, and digitally integrates that the rate

Non-contact endoscopic temperature measurement

Optical Fibers and Sensors for Medical Diagnostics and Treatment Applications XX, 2020
We demonstrate a pyrometric contactless temperature sensor using a flexible fused silica fiber of 360 μm diameter for endoscopic/laparoscopic surgery equipment. The large bandwidth (up to several kilohertz), and the broad temperature range (from 35°C to 250°C) of the sensor can be instrumental for time-resolved analysis and control of laser ablation ...

Non‐contact measurement of structures

Structural Survey, 1990
Outlines the system of measuring structural movements and deformations based on the theory of theodolite intersection, which was developed by the Civil Engineering Department of the University of Leeds. Illustrates the principles involved and discusses the several systems available.

REPEATABILITY OF IOP MEASUREMENT WITH THE NON‐CONTACT TONOMETER

American journal of optometry and physiological optic, 1974
ABSTRACT Fifty readings were taken with the non‐contact tonometer on 16 men with normal IOP. There was a decrease in IOP on successive measurements of about 1 mm Hg. The median of any three successive readings was always within ± 2 mm Hg of the average of all 50 measurements.

Non-contacting distance measuring system

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1986
To determine if a pulsed beam system, typically an ultrasonic pulsed beam system, which is located externally of a motor vehicle is in operative condition, a transmitter (14) projects a beam to a fixed reflector (16) located on the vehicle, and one (19) of a group of timing stages (18; 19, 20, 21) evaluates the transit time to the reflector.
