Gephyrin Neurological Autoimmunity

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, Volume 100, Issue 4, Page 781-787, October 2026.
Gephyrin is a postsynaptic scaffold protein essential for inhibitory neurotransmission. Gephyrin‐immunoglobulin G (IgG) was reported, decades ago, in a single case of paraneoplastic stiff‐person‐like syndrome, but its broader clinical relevance remains unknown.

Apoptin‐Derived Peptide Alleviates Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE) by Limiting Neuronal Ca2+ Overload Through the HSPA1A–AP2B1 Axis

open access: yesCNS Neuroscience &Therapeutics, Volume 32, Issue 10, October 2026.
Epileptogenic stress upregulates HSPA1A, impairs AP2B1 O‐GlcNAcylation and stability, and promotes GluA2 loss‐associated CP‐AMPAR formation and Ca2+ overload. B9 attenuates epileptogenesis by targeting the HSPA1A–AP2B1 axis, restoring AP2B1 O‐GlcNAcylation and stability, preserving GluA2‐associated AMPAR regulation, and reducing pathological Ca2 ...

Seizures in children with Dravet syndrome in extreme heat: A qualitative study of parental perspectives

open access: yesDevelopmental Medicine &Child Neurology, Volume 68, Issue 10, Page 1450-1459, October 2026.
Perspectives of parents of children with Dravet syndrome indicate that extreme heat and high temperatures exacerbate epileptic seizures, introduce new seizure triggers, and require the adoption of specific seizure‑management strategies. This original article is commented by Hood on pages 1338–1339 of this issue.

Continuous Versus Routine EEG in Critically Ill Patients Without Primary Neurologic Condition: Analysis of a Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 33, Issue 10, October 2026.
ABSTRACTIntroductionContinuous EEG (cEEG) is increasingly used in critically ill patients, driven by its superior seizure detection sensitivity over routine EEG (rEEG). However, cEEG is resource‐demanding, and whether its use translates into improved clinical outcomes in patients without primary neurologic conditions remains unknown.MethodsThis is a ...
