Al–Cu Composite Casting of Laser‐Deoxidized Copper: Bonding, Interfacial Chemistry, and Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

Resolving non‐symmetry in flows via subdomain shifts

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2010
In this study, non‐symmetric flow problems are modeled by selecting subdomains and shifting them in such a way that the symmetry is recovered. As a result, the domains are made of simple grid structures and re‐generation of mesh is avoided.

Productivity‐Driven Optimization of Laser Powder Bed Fusion Parameters for IN718 Superalloy: Process Control, Microstructure, and Mechanical Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates how optimizing laser power, scanning speed, and hatching distance in laser powder bed fusion can boost the productivity of Inconel 718 manufacturing by up to 29% while maintaining mechanical integrity. The work delivers a validated process window and cost–time analysis, offering industry‐ready guidelines for efficient additive ...

Frequency Domain Analysis of Lossy and Non-Uniform Twisted Wire Pair

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
In the study of the frequency domain crosstalk for twisted pair, the traditional alternating inversion model is often built under the ideal condition of lossless and uniform media, ignoring the length of the twisted section.

Accurate Simulation of Ideal Circular and Elliptic Cylindrical Invisibility Cloaks

open access: yes, 2014
The coordinate transformation offers a remarkable way to design cloaks that can steer electromagnetic fields so as to prevent waves from penetrating into the {\em cloaked region} (denoted by $\Omega_0$, where the objects inside are invisible to observers

Interaction of Ladle Slag With Varying SiO2 Content and Recyclate‐Based MgO–C Refractories

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Ladle slags (CaO/Al2O3 = 1) with 1–20 wt% SiO2 were investigated in contact with industrial MgO–C refractories fabricated from fresh magnesia and 50 wt% recyclate. The sessile drop method at 1600°C reveals intensive gas formation, delayed slag infiltration in recyclate‐based samples, and, under high‐SiO2 slag, formation of a dense MgAl2O4‐rich ...

Strong maximum principles for implicit parabolic functional-differential problems together with initial inequalities

open access: yesAnnales Universitatis Paedagogicae Cracoviensis: Studia Mathematica, 2004
The aim of the paper is to give strong maximum principles for implicit non-linear parabolic functional-differential problems together with initial inequalities in relatively arbitrary $(n+1)$-dimensional time - space sets more general than cylindrical ...

A NOVEL HYBRID METHOD FOR NON-TRADITIONAL MACHINING PROCESS SELECTION USING FACTOR RELATIONSHIP AND MULTI-ATTRIBUTIVE BORDER APPROXIMATION METHOD

open access: yesFacta Universitatis. Series: Mechanical Engineering, 2017
Selection of the most appropriate non-traditional machining process (NTMP) for a definite machining requirement can be observed as a multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem with conflicting criteria.

Spectral Curve of Periodic Fisher Graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We study the spectral curves of dimer models on periodic Fisher graphs, obtained from a ferromagnetic Ising model on $\mathbb{Z}^2$. The spectral curve is defined by the zero locus of the determinant of a modified weighted adjacency matrix. We prove that

Quantum waveguides with small periodic perturbations: gaps and edges of Brillouin zones

open access: yes, 2013
We consider small perturbations of the Laplace operator in a multi-dimensional cylindrical domain by second order differential operators with periodic coefficients. We show that under certain non-degeneracy conditions such perturbations can open a gap in
