Stability of parabolic equations in non-cylindrical domains

open access: yes
This paper addresses the stability of a class of parabolic equations in non-cylindrical domains. We investigate the $L^\infty$-stability of systems for both nondegenerate and degenerate cases. Unlike in cylindrical domains, solutions to such problems may not exhibit exponential decay. An interesting phenomenon observed is that degeneracy has a positive

Microstructure Evolution of a VMnFeCoNi High‐Entropy Alloy After Synthesis, Swaging, and Annealing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
The synthesis and processing (rotary swaging and annealing) of the novel VMnFeCoNi alloy is investigated, alongside the estimation of the grain size effect on hardness. Analysis of a wide grain size range of recrystallized microstructures (12–210 µm) reveals a low annealing twin density.

Direct Metal Deposition of Graphene–Ti28Nb35.4Zr Matrix Composites With Enhanced Mechanical, Corrosion, and Biocompatibility Properties for Bone Implants

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Graphene nanoplatelet (0.1 wt.%) reinforcement significantly enhances the performance of β Ti‐28Nb‐35.4Zr alloy. Grain refinement, reduced water contact angle, and improved surface characteristics promote osteoblast adhesion and complete surface coverage after 7 days.

The Goursat problem for hyperbolic linear third order equations

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2001
The third order hyperbolic linear differential equation is considered in the non‐cylindrical domain of multidimensional Euclidean space. The equation operator is a composition of a differentiation operator of the first order and second order operator ...

Exact observability of a 1D wave equation on a non-cylindrical domain

open access: yes, 2017
We discuss admissibility and exact observability estimates of boundary observation and interior point observation of a one-dimensional wave equation on a time dependent domain for sufficiently regular boundary functions. We also discuss moving observers inside the non-cylindrical domain and simultaneous observability results.

Understanding and Optimizing Li Substitution in P2‐Type Sodium Layered Oxides for Sodium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores Li‐substituted P2 layered oxides for Na‐ion batteries by crystallographic and electrochemical studies. The effect of lithium on superstructure orderings, on phase transitions during synthesis and electrochemical cycling and on the interplay of O‐ versus TM‐redox is revealed via various advanced techniques, including semi‐simultaneous

Effect of Temporal Modulation on the Local Kinematic Process of Two-Dimensional Chaotic Flow: A Numerical Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2021
In this work, a numerical analysis based on CFD method is carried out to examine an unsteady laminar flow of Newtonian fluids in a two-dimensional simulation of a mixer, which is composed of two rods inside a moving cylindrical tank.

NanoMOF‐Based Multilevel Anti‐Counterfeiting by a Combination of Visible and Invisible Photoluminescence and Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents novel anti‐counterfeiting tags with multilevel security features that utilize additional disguise features. They combine luminescent nanosized Ln‐MOFs with conductive polymers to multifunctional mixed‐matrix membranes and powder composites. The materials exhibit visible/NIR emission and matrix‐based conductivity even as black bodies.
