Multiplicity results for a class of $p(x)$-Kirchhoff type equations with combined nonlinearities

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2012
Using the mountain pass theorem combined with the Ekeland variational principle, we obtain at least two distinct, non-trivial weak solutions for a class of $p(x)$-Kirchhoff type equations with combined nonlinearities.

Capillary Surfaces in Non-Cylindrical Domains

open access: yesZeitschrift für Analysis und ihre Anwendungen, 2000
This paper is concerned with the capillary problem in a class of non-cylindrical domains in K \subset \mathbb R^{n+1} obtained by scaling a bounded cross-section \Omega \subset \mathbb R^n

Determining the domain of attraction of hybrid non–linear systems using maximal Lyapunov functions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
summary:In this article a method is presented to find systematically the domain of attraction (DOA) of hybrid non-linear systems. It has already been shown that there exists a sequence of special kind of Lyapunov functions $V_n$ in a rational functional ...

A red-green photochromic bacterial protein as a new contrast agent for improved photoacoustic imaging

open access: yesPhotoacoustics, 2022
The GAF3 domain of the cyanobacteriochrome Slr1393 from Synechocystis sp. PCC6803, binding phycocyanobilin as a chromophore, shows photochromicity between two stable, green- and red-absorbing states, characterized by relatively high photoconversion ...

A class of non-cylindrical domains for parabolic equations

open access: yes, 2017
We present a class of non-cylindrical domains where Dirichlet-type problems for parabolic equations, such as the heat equation, can be posed and solved. The regularity for the boundary of this class of domains is a mixed Lipschitz condition, as described in the bulk of the paper. The main tool is an adequate version of the implicit function theorem for

Enhanced spin transfer torque effect for transverse domain walls in cylindrical nanowires [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Recent studies have predicted extraordinary properties for transverse domain walls in cylindrical nanowires: zero depinning current, the absence of the Walker breakdown, and applications as domain wall oscillators. In order to reliably control the domain

The Non-Homogeneous Wave Equation in Non-Cylindrical Domains

open access: yesTEMA - Tendências em Matemática Aplicada e Computacional, 2001
We prove the existence and uniqueness of a global regular solution to the mixed problem for the nonhomogeneous wave equation in a noncylindrical domain using a hiperbolic nonsingular smooth transformation of the original problem to a nonlinear hyperbolic problem in a cylinder.

Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Modelling metallic discontinuities with the non-orthogonal finite difference time domain method [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Numerical electromagnetic models, such as the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method, have many applications. The authors focus on the non-orthogonal FDTD method, which offers an improved geometric flexibility compared to other standard techniques ...
