We study Kirchhoff plates equations with viscoelastic boundary conditions in a noncylindrical domain. This work is devoted to proving the global existence, uniqueness of solutions, and decay of the energy of solutions for Kirchhoff plates equations in a ...

The Non-Homogeneous Wave Equation in Non-Cylindrical Domains
We prove the existence and uniqueness of a global regular solution to the mixed problem for the nonhomogeneous wave equation in a noncylindrical domain using a hiperbolic nonsingular smooth transformation of the original problem to a nonlinear hyperbolic problem in a cylinder.

Computational study of hole shape effect on film cooling performance [PDF]
Film cooling effectiveness has been studied by using a computational approach based on solving the Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes equations. A wind tunnel test configuration is considered with a total of four cooling hole geometries as a cylindrical ...

Seeding of the nematic-isotropic phase transition by an electric field [PDF]
In this paper, we use a relatively simple continuum model to investigate the effects of dielectric inhomogeneity within confined liquid crystal cells. Specifically, we consider, in planar, cylindrical and spherical geometries, the stability of a nematic ...

Linear Parabolic Problems in Random Moving Domains
We consider linear parabolic equations on a random non-cylindrical domain. Utilizing the domain mapping method, we write the problem as a partial differential equation with random coefficients on a cylindrical deterministic domain.

On imploding cylindrical and spherical shock waves in a perfect gas [PDF]
The problem of a cylindrically or spherically imploding and reflecting shock wave in a flow initially at rest is studied without the use of the strong-shock approximation.

Thin domain limit and counterexamples to strong diamagnetism
We study the magnetic Laplacian and the Ginzburg-Landau functional in a thin planar, smooth, tubular domain and with a uniform applied magnetic field. We provide counterexamples to strong diamagnetism, and as a consequence, we prove that the transition ...

The GAF3 domain of the cyanobacteriochrome Slr1393 from Synechocystis sp. PCC6803, binding phycocyanobilin as a chromophore, shows photochromicity between two stable, green- and red-absorbing states, characterized by relatively high photoconversion ...

Frequency domain non-linear characterization and analysis of lithium-ion battery electrodes
As an electrochemical system, the current voltage relationship of a lithium-ion battery is non-linear. The accuracy of conventional models for lithium-ion cells always suffer from non-linear dynamic behavior, especially at low SoC levels and high current

Effective behavior of long and short fiber-reinforced viscoelastic composites
We study the homogenized properties of linear viscoelastic composite materials in three dimensions. The composites are assumed to be constituted by a non-aging, isotropic viscoelastic matrix reinforced by square or hexagonal arrangements of elastic ...
