Observations on the Burrow Structures and Larval Behavior of Ephoron shigae (Takahashi, 1924) (Ephemeroptera: Polymitarcyidae) in River Sediments

open access: yesInternational Review of Hydrobiology, Volume 111, Issue 2, December 2026.
ABSTRACT The larvae of the mayfly Ephoron shigae (Takahashi, 1924) (Ephemeroptera: Polymitarcyidae) inhabit distinctive U‐shaped burrows in river and lake sediments, yet their ecology remains poorly documented. Using newly developed mechatronic technology, we obtained continuous observations that revealed new aspects of larval behavior.

Study of Liquid Flow Through a Channel With Adjacent Porous Domains of Different Material Properties

open access: yesProceedings in Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Volume 26, Issue 4, December 2026.
ABSTRACT A common subject in engineering disciplines is the study of flow in and around fractures or channels with adjacent porous domains. In this work, a unified approach based on the Theory of Porous Media (TPM) with an embedded Phase‐Field (PF) fracture model is used to investigate a flow scenario, where a channel separates two porous domains with ...

Deer Antler δ18O Records Desalination in Israel's Water Supply

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, Volume 40, Issue 19, 15 October 2026.
ABSTRACT Rationale Stable oxygen isotope ratios (δ¹⁸O) in mammalian tissues are widely used to reconstruct past climates, seasonal patterns, and animal origins. These analyses assume that animals drink local rainwater—an assumption now challenged by large‐scale anthropogenic water management.

Frozen in Place: Proximity Labeling Maps Glial Interactomes Across Cell States

open access: yesGlia, Volume 74, Issue 10, October 2026.
Proximity labeling enables cell‐type‐specific and spatially resolved mapping of glial protein networks. Proximity labeling approaches provide insights into glial function under physiological and pathological conditions. ABSTRACT Glial cells, including radial glia, oligodendrocyte precursor cells (OPCs), oligodendrocytes, astrocytes, and microglia, are ...

Evaluating the Role of AI Chatbots in Patient Education for Benign Scrotal Surgeries

open access: yesTrends in Urology &Men's Health, Volume 17, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Patient comprehension of surgical information is often limited by medical jargon, health literacy barriers, and time constraints. Large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT‐5, Claude‐4, and Google AI search offer interactive context specific dialogue that may aid to overcome these limitations.
