Framework for assessing bridge quality index based on the correlation of non-destructive test results

open access: yesHeliyon
This paper presents the new method for quality indexing of bridge components on the basis of non-destructive tests (NDT) for the assessment of the structural condition of Reinforced Concrete (RC) bridges.

Fast tomographic inspection of cylindrical objects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
This paper presents a method for improved analysis of objects with an axial symmetry using X-ray Computed Tomography (CT). Cylindrical coordinates about an axis fixed to the object form the most natural base to check certain characteristics of objects ...

Increasing the Reuse Potential of High‐Strength Steels by Extending the Fatigue Life through Surface Treatments

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Surface reconditioning through mechanical and electrochemical polishing is shown to extend the fatigue life of predamaged 42CrMo4 steel by over 12 times. By removing ≈100 μm of surface material, surface‐driven fatigue damage is mitigated. This study introduces a reuse potential metric to evaluate fatigue recovery and support sustainable steel reuse. To

Non‐Destructive Inspection of TCPs Using Pulse‐Echo Ultrasound and X‐Ray Microcomputed Tomography Techniques

open access: yesX-Ray Spectrometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Thermoplastic composite pipes (TCPs) have potential applications in offshore oil and gas industries because of their strength, lack of corrosion, and flexibility. Designed for fluid transportation in high‐pressure and high‐temperature environments, manufacturing defects and operational loads can compromise their performance.

Scanning Acoustic Microscopy (SAM): A Robust Method for Defect Detection during the Manufacturing Process of Ultrasound Probes for Medical Imaging

open access: yesSensors, 2019
The main aim of this paper is to provide the feasibility of non-destructive testing (NDT) method, such as scanning acoustic microscopy (SAM), for damage detection in ultrasound (US) probes for medical imaging during the manufacturing process. In a highly

Time of flight fast approximation method for ultrasound sub-surface imaging

open access: yesResearch and Review Journal of Nondestructive Testing, 2023
Time-Of-Flight (TOF) computations are needed in all ultrasound imaging methods. In Non Destructive Testing (NDT), where ultrasound inspections are frequently done using a coupling medium between the transducer and the test piece, wave refraction ...
