Clinical Trial: Lemborexant Efficacy and Safety in Liver Cirrhosis—Randomized, Double‐Blind, Crossover Clinical Trial

open access: yesAlimentary Pharmacology &Therapeutics, Volume 64, Issue 4, Page 458-470, August 2026.
RESTORE is a prospective, double‐blind, placebo‐controlled, crossover trial evaluating Lemborexant in cirrhosis at Cipto Mangunkusumo National Referral Hospital. Both 5 and 10 mg doses reduced PSQI by week 2, with sustained benefits post‐crossover. The 5 mg group improved Stroop Test performance, whereas the 10 mg group had prolonged reaction time ...

Mechanisms of action of polyhexamethylene biguanide-based biocides against non-enveloped virus [PDF]

open access: yes
Human viral pathogens place a serious threat on the healthcare system. Adequate and efficient disinfection procedures minimise the incidence of surface contamination and viral disease transmission. Biocide type, environmental conditions and viral characteristics e.g. presence of envelope influence the disinfection effectiveness. Thus, understanding the

Impact of ABO Blood System on Immunogenicity and Vaccine Efficacy of COVID‐19 Booster Vaccination—A Population‐Based Study of 3066 Individuals

open access: yesInfluenza and Other Respiratory Viruses, Volume 20, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Background ABO blood group has been associated with SARS‐CoV‐2 susceptibility. Little data exist regarding the impact of ABO and Rhesus (Rh[D]) type on breakthrough infections and antibody responses following SARS‐CoV‐2 booster vaccination. Methods This multicenter, population‐based cohort study includes individuals ≥ 18 years who received a ...

Development and Validation of a Viability RT‐qPCR Assay for Detecting Infectious Spring Viraemia of Carp Virus (SVCV)

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, Volume 49, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Spring viremia of carp virus (SVCV) is a contagious pathogen associated with significant mortality and economic losses in freshwater aquaculture. Although reverse transcription quantitative PCR (RT‐qPCR) enables rapid detection, it does not distinguish between infectious and non‐infectious viral particles, which may lead to overestimation of ...

Non-enveloped virus infection probed with host cellular molecules : a structural study

open access: yes, 2002
Early steps in virus replication require binding of the virus to its target cell, entry into the cell, and delivery of the viral genome into the cell in order to gain access to the cellular macromolecular synthesis machinery. This infectious process can only be initiated if the virus successfully attaches to a specific receptor on the plasma membrane ...

Identification and Optimization of a Truncated Hs‐1‐Derived Antimicrobial Peptide for Enhanced Broad‐Spectrum Antiviral Activity

open access: yesChemMedChem, Volume 21, Issue 13, 14 July 2026.
Can a shorter peptide be a better antiviral? Structure‐guided optimization of the amphibian peptide Hs‐1 reveals a minimal α‐helical core that, after terminal modification, displays enhanced stability and submicromolar broad‐spectrum activity against enveloped viruses while maintaining a favorable safety profile. Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) represent

C‐Terminal Nucleobase Modification Amplifies Peptide‐Mediated Liposome Fusion

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Volume 32, Issue 26, 11 July 2026.
Let's come together right now. Cationic peptides are known to promote aggregation of negatively charged liposomes through electrostatic interaction. The process is reversible: once neutrality is achieved, liposomes disaggregate. Here, we demonstrate that end‐capping peptides with nucleobases turns the process into irreversible fusion.
