Dynamics of many-body quantum synchronisation

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2018
We analyse the properties of the synchronisation transition in a many-body system consisting of quantum van der Pol oscillators with all-to-all coupling using a self-consistent mean-field method.

Non-equilibrium fluctuations and metastability arising from non-additive interactions in dissipative multi-component Rydberg gases

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2016
We study the out-of-equilibrium dynamics of dissipative gases of atoms excited to two or more high-lying Rydberg states. This situation bears interesting similarities to classical binary (in general p -ary) mixtures of particles.

Photon-pair blockade in a Josephson-photonics circuit with two nondegenerate microwave resonators

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2022
We propose to generate photon-pair blockade in a Josephson-photonics circuit that consists of a dc voltage-biased Josephson junction in series with a superconducting charge qubit and two nondegenerate microwave resonators.

Geometries, Electronic Structures, Bonding Properties, and Stability Strategy of Endohedral Metallofullerenes TM@C28 (TM = Sc, Y, La, Ti, Zr, Hf, V+, Nb+, Ta+)

open access: yesInorganics
We performed quantum chemical calculations on the geometries, electronic structures, bonding properties, and stability strategy of endohedral metallofullerenes TM@C28 (TM = Sc−, Y−, La−, Ti, Zr, Hf, V+, Nb+, Ta+). Our calculations revealed that there are

The Construction of Phosphorus-Doped g-C3N4/Rh-Doped SrTiO3 with Type-II Band Alignment for Efficient Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2022
It is of great importance to promote charge separation in photocatalysts for enhanced photocatalytic activity under visible light irradiation. In this work, a type-II heterostructured photocatalyst was constructed by compositing phosphorus-doped g-C3N4 ...

Organ‐specific redox imbalances in spinal muscular atrophy mice are partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotides

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We identified a systemic, progressive loss of protein S‐glutathionylation—detected by nonreducing western blotting—alongside dysregulation of glutathione‐cycle enzymes in both neuronal and peripheral tissues of Taiwanese SMA mice. These alterations were partially rescued by SMN antisense oligonucleotide therapy, revealing persistent redox imbalance as ...

Topology made visible through standing waves in a spinning fluid

open access: yesCommunications Physics
Wave-topology interactions underlie phenomena across physics, from condensed matter to cosmology, with the Aharonov-Bohm (AB) effect providing a paradigmatic example.

Trapping performance of holographic optical tweezers generated with different hologram algorithms

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2021
Quantitative measurement of small forces and small displacement using holographic optical tweezers (HOTs) is finding increasing applications due to the features of non-contact and high accuracy manipulation. Although hologram optimization algorithms have

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
