Field Theory of Non-Equilibrium Systems

2011
The physics of non-equilibrium many-body systems is a rapidly expanding area of theoretical physics. Traditionally employed in laser physics and superconducting kinetics, these techniques have more recently found applications in the dynamics of cold atomic gases, mesoscopic and nano-mechanical systems, and quantum computation.

Approach to non-equilibrium behaviour in quantum field theory

Annals of Physics, 1989
We study the real-time evolution of quantum field theoretic systems in non-equilibrium situations. Results are presented for the example of scalar /lambda//phi//sup 4/ theory. The degrees of freedom are discretized by studying the system on a torus. Short-wavelength modes are integrated out to one-loop order.

LOCAL MOLECULAR FIELD THEORY FOR NON-EQUILIBRIUM SYSTEMS

2019
Local Molecular Field (LMF) theory is a framework for modeling the long range forces of a statistical system using a mimic system with a modified Hamiltonian that includes a self consistent molecular potential. This theory was formulated in the equilibrium context, being an extension of the Weeks Chandler Andersen (WCA) theory to inhomogeneous systems.

Non-Equilibrium Informational Field Theory Axioms

This treatise presents the Non-Equilibrium Informational Field Theory (NIFT) Axioms, afoundational framework positing that the universe is fundamentally composed not of matter orenergy, but of physically real patterns of information evolving within a dissipative substrate.

Quantum Field Theory of Non-equilibrium States

2007
Quantum field theory is the application of quantum mechanics to systems with infinitely many degrees of freedom. This 2007 textbook presents quantum field theoretical applications to systems out of equilibrium. It introduces the real-time approach to non-equilibrium statistical mechanics and the quantum field theory of non-equilibrium states in general.

The Union of Quantum Field Theory and Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics

2018
Quantum field theory is the language used to describe nature at its most fundamental scales; while thermodynamics is a framework to describe the collective behavior of macroscopic systems. Recent advances in non-equilibrium thermodynamics have enabled this framework to be applied to smaller systems operating out of thermal equilibrium.
