Mean field theory for non-equilibrium quantum fields

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1989
Abstract An approximation technique is provided for studying the time development out of equilibrium of thermal quantum fields, when they experience isoentropic but energy-non-conserving evolution. We implement approximately a variational principle that yields the Liouville-von Neumann equation when implemented exactly.

Field theory of monitored interacting fermion dynamics with charge conservation

Physical review B
Measurement-induced phase transitions (MIPTs) in monitored quantum dynamics are non-equilibrium phase transitions between quantum-chaotic (volume-law entangled) and entanglement-suppressed, area-law phases.

An optimization-based equilibrium measure describing fixed points of non-equilibrium dynamics: application to the edge of chaos

Communications in Theoretical Physics
Understanding neural dynamics is a central topic in machine learning, non-linear physics, and neuroscience. However, the dynamics are non-linear, stochastic and particularly non-gradient, i.e., the driving force cannot be written as the gradient of a ...

Approach to non-equilibrium behaviour in quantum field theory

Annals of Physics, 1989
We study the real-time evolution of quantum field theoretic systems in non-equilibrium situations. Results are presented for the example of scalar /lambda//phi//sup 4/ theory. The degrees of freedom are discretized by studying the system on a torus. Short-wavelength modes are integrated out to one-loop order.

Non-equilibrium fields and quantum kinetic theory in curved spaces

Physica A: Statistical Mechanics and its Applications, 1989
Abstract The non-equilibrium evolution of a quantum field in a slowly varying background curved space is described in terms of a distribution (Wigner) function obeying a covariant transport equation.
