Coronary artery endothelial dysfunction is positively correlated with low density lipoprotein and inversely correlated with high density lipoprotein subclass particles measured by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.

open access: yes, 2009
OBJECTIVE: The association between cholesterol and endothelial dysfunction remains controversial. We tested the hypothesis that lipoprotein subclasses are associated with coronary endothelial dysfunction.

Pre‐Diagnostic Plasma Carotenoids, Tocopherols and Retinol Levels, and Risk of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, EarlyView.
Objective Our goal was to examine whether pre‐diagnostic plasma carotenoids and tocopherols are associated with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Methods A nested case–control study within 4 United States cohorts, where 154 participants with pre‐diagnostic blood‐draw, were diagnosed during follow‐up with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Controls

Dual Functions of Dietary Rubber Seed Oil Supplementation: Enriching N‐3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids and Enhancing Antioxidant Capacity in Pekin Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Dietary RSO supplementation improved growth performance, simultaneously enriched n‐3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n‐3 PUFA), and enhanced antioxidant capacity in Pekin ducks, which suggested that RSO has the potential to be a novel n‐3 PUFA source and an antioxidant for Pekin ducks to generate animal functional foods.

Role of non-HDL-cholesterol in evaluation of dyslipidemia in preeclampsia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Clinical Biochemistry and Research, 2019
Introduction: Physiological changes in lipid metabolism observed during pregnancy is exaggerated in preeclampsia (PE). The latest recommendations of European and American Cardiological Associations and National Cholesterol Education Program Adult treatment panel III (NCEP ATP III), emphasize the role of non-High-Density Lipoprotein cholesterol (non ...

Replacement of dietary saturated fatty acids by trans fatty acids lowers serum HDL cholesterol and impairs endothelial function in healthy men and women

open access: yes, 2001
We tested whether trans fatty acids and saturated fatty acids had different effects on flow-mediated vasodilation (FMD), a risk marker of coronary heart disease (CHD). Consumption of trans fatty acids is related to increased risk of CHD, probably through

A Potential Combination Of HDL-Cholesterol And Hs-CRP For Inflammation Monitoring In CKD Patient With Statin Therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Reducing inflammation can be one of the therapeutic targets in in Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients. Many studies have shown that statins have pleiotropic effects as anti-inflammation.

Dietary Baicalin Supplementation Can Enhance the Growth Performance of Weaned Piglets and Maintain the Intestinal Barrier Integrity

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This research innovatively illustrates baicalin’s multifaceted mechanisms in enhancing piglets’ intestinal health: modulating bile acid metabolism via probiotics, reinforcing tight junction proteins (ZO‐1/claudin), suppressing TLR4/NF‐κB‐mediated inflammation, whereas promoting growth and reducing diarrhea.

Non-HDL-Cholesterol and Total Cholesterol to HDL-C Ratio in Abdominally Obese Adults in Phitsanulok

open access: yesSiriraj Medical Journal, 2009
Objective: To compare non-HDLc and the TC/HDLc ratio in men and women with and without abdominal obesity (AO). To evaluate the association of non-HDLc and the TC/HDLc ratio with the other risk factors and to estimate the non-HDLc and TC/HDLc ratio level ...

Exploring the Roles of Tuna‐Associated Acinetobacter sp. YFT067: Implications for Host Health and Metabolism

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This study firstly isolated a tuna‐derived gut probiotic Acinetobacter seifertii YFT067. Dietary administration of YFT067 played significant roles in promoting growth performance, SCFAs production, lipid absorption, and metabolism of the host, indicating YFT067 as a promising probiotic candidate for enhancing tuna aquaculture productivity through ...
