Exotic Properties of Non Homogeneous Markov and Semi-Markov Systems

Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 2013
In this article we study what we chose to call exotic properties of NHMS and NHSMS. The interplay between stochastic theory of NHMS and NHSMS and other branches of probability, stochastic processes and mathematics, we believe is a fascinating one apart from being important.

The non-homogeneous Markov system in a stochastic environment

Journal of Applied Probability, 1993
We introduce and define for the first time the concept of a non-homogeneous Markov system in a stochastic environment (S-NHMS). The problem of finding the expected population structure in an S-NHMS is studied, and important properties among the basic parameters of the S-NHMS are established.

Control of manufacturing systems with non homogeneous Markov failure processes

2004 43rd IEEE Conference on Decision and Control (CDC) (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37601), 2004
In this paper we present a heuristic approach to obtain fast numerical approximate solutions for the problem of optimal control of Markov failure prone production systems with failures dependent on the production rate. If the failure rate is characterized by a linear affine dependence on the production rate, for single machine single part type systems,

Control of asymptotic variability in non-homogeneous Markov systems

Journal of Applied Probability, 1990
In this paper we provide two basic results. First, we find the set of all the limiting vectors of expectations, variances and covariances in an NHMS which are possible provided that we control the limit vector of the sequence of vectors of input probabilities.

Performability of electric-power systems modeled by non-homogeneous Markov chains

IEEE Transactions on Reliability, 1996
This paper treats a particular type of Markov system: time nonhomogeneous Markov system in discrete time. In order to adapt measures to this kind of system, performability measures are formulated, such as new indicators more dedicated to electrical power systems like 'instantaneous mean load curtailed' and 'mean energy not supplied on a time interval'.
