Extending the hyper‐logistic model to the random setting: New theoretical results with real‐world applications

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
We develop a full randomization of the classical hyper‐logistic growth model by obtaining closed‐form expressions for relevant quantities of interest, such as the first probability density function of its solution, the time until a given fixed population is reached, and the population at the inflection point.

Entropy-Regularized Federated Optimization for Non-IID Data

open access: yesAlgorithms
Federated learning (FL) struggles under non-IID client data when local models drift toward conflicting optima, impairing global convergence and performance. We introduce entropy-regularized federated optimization (ERFO), a lightweight client-side modification that augments each local objective with a Shannon entropy penalty on the per-parameter update ...

On the Mean‐Field Limit of Consensus‐Based Methods

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Consensus‐based optimization (CBO) employs a swarm of particles evolving as a system of stochastic differential equations (SDEs). Recently, it has been adapted to yield a derivative free sampling method referred to as consensus‐based sampling (CBS). In this paper, we investigate the “mean‐field limit” of a class of consensus methods, including

Personalized Differential Privacy for Ridge Regression Under Output Perturbation

open access: yesNaval Research Logistics (NRL), EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The increased application of machine learning (ML) in sensitive domains requires protecting the training data through privacy frameworks, such as differential privacy (DP). Traditional DP enforces a uniform privacy level ε$$ \varepsilon $$, which bounds the maximum privacy loss that each data point in the dataset is allowed to incur.

Conditional Generative Modeling for Enhanced Credit Risk Management in Supply Chain Finance

open access: yesNaval Research Logistics (NRL), EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The rapid expansion of cross‐border e‐commerce (CBEC) has created significant opportunities for small‐ and medium‐sized sellers, yet financing remains a critical challenge due to their limited credit histories. Third‐party logistics (3PL)‐led supply chain finance (SCF) has emerged as a promising solution, leveraging in‐transit inventory as ...

Reconsidering Volume‐Based Drug Procurement Policy: The Consequences of Manufacturers' Optimal Production Planning and Breach Strategies

open access: yesNaval Research Logistics (NRL), EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper examines the impacts of Volume‐Based Procurement (VBP) policies on pharmaceutical supply chains, with a focus on the strategic behaviors of manufacturers. VBP aims to reduce costs and stabilize supplies by centralizing procurement through competition based on volumes and prices.

The Weak Core, Partition‐Based Universal Stability, and Their Risk Associations Through A Partial Order

open access: yesNaval Research Logistics (NRL), EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We are concerned with the stability of a transferable‐utility cooperative (TU) game. First, the concept of core can be weakened so that the blocking of changes is limited to only those with multilateral backings. This principle of consensual blocking, as well as the traditional core‐defining one of unilateral blocking and one straddling in ...

Multivariate Tests for Comparing Lifetimes of Parallel Systems

open access: yesQuality and Reliability Engineering International, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Life testing of engineering systems with dependent components requires robust multivariate methods. Parametric approaches depend on restrictive assumptions, limiting their use in complex or unknown lifetime distribution settings. This study evaluates nonparametric methods for comparing parallel system lifetimes under minimal sample ...
