Sputum analysis: Non‐invasive early lung cancer detection
Journal of Cellular Physiology, 2013AbstractLung cancer is the leading cause of cancer‐related deaths over the world, characterized by a very high mortality rate. Molecular technique development tries to focus on early detection of cancers by studying molecular alterations that characterize cancer cells. Worldwide lung cancer research has focused on an ever‐increasing number of molecular

A signal analysis algorithm for determining brain compliance non-invasively
The 26th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2005Patients with increased intracranial pressure (ICP) caused by hydrocephalus or brain injury have poor brain compliance or increased brain stiffness. The condition is commonly treated by a surgical diversion of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) through placement of a ventriculoperitoneal (VP) shunt. These inserted devices frequently fail and require replacement.

Derivative Spectroscopy in Non-invasive Blood-Glucose Analysis
2016 IEEE First International Conference on Connected Health: Applications, Systems and Engineering Technologies (CHASE), 2016We devised a way to measure blood glucose non-invasively by applying Derivative Spectroscopy to the images we recorded with a smartphone camera. Based on two years of testing several methodologies to quantify blood glucose levels, we used principles of the Beer-Lambert Law to correlate the ratio of two wavelengths to mg/dL blood-glucose values.

Online non-invasive fetal sound analysis
2004 IEEE Electro/Information Technology Conference, 2004A method is presented to non-invasively separate the fetal phonocardiograms (FPCG) of the fetuses in a multiple fetus pregnancy. The method uses a device like a stethoscope. We assume that the phonocardiograms of the fetuses are statistically independent. Results of simulations are included in the paper.

Non-invasive fetal cell isolation and analysis
Current Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 2000Abstract Obtaining cells from the fetoplacental unit for prenatal diagnostic purposes has required invasive techniques associated with risks which many find unacceptable. There is no doubt that fetal cells do circulate in the maternal blood and do find their way into the cervical canal, albeit in very low numbers. To isolate and study these few cells

Non Invasive Analysis of Natural Resin Extracts
Journal of Near Infrared Spectroscopy, 1998The NIR reflection spectra of some purified conifer resin extracts used as a biologically active ingredient in pharmaceutical ointments were employed to reveal the possibility of applying NIR spectroscopy to quality control. The samples were analysed beforehand (by HPLC and compendial methods) in order to characterise them.
