Determining predictors of underlying etiology and clinical deterioration in patients with physiologic instability in the emergency department [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Thesis (M.A.)--Boston UniversityShock is a critical state defined by inadequate oxygen delivery to tissues. It is well known in the critical care community that early diagnosis and treatment of shock are crucial to improving patient outcomes. However, in

Interrogating the immune landscape of microsatellite stable RAS‐mutated colon cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
COLOSSUS project RAS‐mutated MSS colon cancer study explored transcriptomics and immune cell density by immunohistochemistry (IHC), Immunoscore (IS), ISIC/TuLIS scores, mutation counts, and detected different prevalences but similar microenvironment composition across immune markers with clinical relevance for future immunotherapy combination ...

The effect of restaging transurethral resection on recurrence and progression rates in patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer treated with intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guérin

open access: yesJournal of Urology, 2013
Introduction We sought to determine if restaging resection prior to initiation of induction intravesical Bacillus Calmette-Guérin improves recurrence-free rates in patients with high-risk non-muscle invasive bladder cancer.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Collapse of a desert bird community over the past century driven by climate change [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Climate change has caused deserts, already defined by climatic extremes, to warm and dry more rapidly than other ecoregions in the contiguous United States over the last 50 years.

Platelet count/spleen diameter ratio for non-invasive prediction of high risk esophageal varices in cirrhotic patients.

open access: yesAnnals of Hepatology, 2009
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE Prophylaxis therapy is indicated in cirrhotic patients with large esophageal varices or small varices with red wale signs (high risk esophageal varices; HREV). Endoscopic surveillance to detect HREV is currently recommended.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Imaging correlates of molecular signatures in oligodendrogliomas. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Molecular subsets of oligodendroglioma behave in biologically distinct ways. Their locations in the brain, rates of growth, and responses to therapy differ with their genotypes. Retrospectively, we inquired whether allelic loss of chromosomal arms 1p and
