Non-linear dynamics of curved beams. Part 1: Formulation

open access: yes, 2009
The non-linear dynamics of elastic beams with uniform initial curvature and double-symmetric cross-section are considered in this work. In particular, the work is divided into two parts.

Long‐Term Follow‐Up of Chemotherapy‐Associated Biological Aging in Women With Early Breast Cancer

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
Women threated with adjuvant chemotherapy for early breast cancer have sustained long‐term increase in p16INK4a,, a robust marker of cell senescence, suggesting a chemotherapy‐associated age acceleration. p16INK4a as well as other biomarkers may identify patients at greatest risk for senescence‐related diseases of aging.

Intelligent Tutoring Systems for Adult Learning in STEM Disciplines

open access: yesNew Directions for Adult and Continuing Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Intelligent tutoring systems (ITS) are reshaping adult learning in STEM by providing adaptive, data‐driven instruction across classrooms, workplaces, and informal environments. In the context of ITS, this article compares generative AI, which creates personalized explanations and practice materials, with explainable AI, which focuses on ...

On the dynamics of a self-gravitating medium with random and non-random initial conditions

open access: yes, 2001
The dynamics of a one-dimensional self-gravitating medium, with initial density almost uniform is studied. Numerical experiments are performed with ordered and with Gaussian random initial conditions.

Spinal Cord Infarction Versus Idiopathic Transverse Myelitis: Clinical, Radiological, and Functional Insights From a Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Spinal cord infarction (SCI) is a rare but devastating myelopathy, characterized by a high disability rate and an unfavorable prognosis. It has often been underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed as idiopathic transverse myelitis (ITM). This study aimed to describe the clinical features, radiological biomarkers, treatments, and functional ...

Impact of Asymptomatic Intracranial Hemorrhage on Outcome After Endovascular Stroke Treatment

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Endovascular treatment (EVT) achieves high rates of recanalization in acute large‐vessel occlusion (LVO) stroke, but functional recovery remains heterogeneous. While symptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (sICH) has been well studied, the prognostic impact of asymptomatic intracranial hemorrhage (aICH) after EVT is less certain ...

A non linear theory of acoustoelectric amplification in piezoelectric semiconductors [PDF]

open access: yes
At the present time there is a great deal of interest in non-linear acoustoelectric phenomena in piezoelectric semiconduotors. The behaviour of acoustic gain in the large signal regime is fundamental to an understanding of these phenomena.

A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis of the Recurrence of Autoimmune Encephalitis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Autoimmune encephalitis (AE) is a disease with a potential for recurrence, and patients receive immunotherapy to prevent it. However, there is no consensus on the duration of immunotherapy. This study aimed to determine the recurrence rate and identify the risk factors for AE to provide guidance on the duration of immunotherapy ...

On the correspondence between symmetries of two-dimensional autonomous dynamical systems and their phase plane realisations

open access: yes
We consider the relationship between symmetries of two-dimensional autonomous dynamical systems in two common formulations; as a set of differential equations for the derivative of each state with respect to time, and a single differential equation in ...
