Parallel simulation of non-linear phenomena with cellular automata
1997This paper presents a new approach to the problem of simulating wave propagation in elastic solids, using Cellular Automata. The main objective of this work is to develop a cellular automaton model which allows to understand several complex or non-linear phenomena that occur in the propagation of stress waves.

NON-LINEAR ELECTROKINETIC PHENOMENA PART II
Soil Science, 1968ELECTRO-PHORETIC VELOCITY WAS MEASURED BY THE MICROSCOPIC METHOD IN A CYLINDRICAL CELL OF 10 CM. LENGTH AND 5 MM. DIAMETER. THE ELECTRODES WERE MADE OF PLATINUM. PARTICLES WERE OBSERVED BY REFLECTED LIGHT AND TYNDAL'S EFFECT, BUT THE SMALLEST VELOCITIES COULD NOT BE MEASURED, BECAUSE OF LIMITATIONS IN THE OPTICS. D. C.

Non-linear collective phenomena in dusty plasmas
Plasma Physics and Controlled Fusion, 2004Dusty plasmas are unusual states of matter where the interactions between the dust grains can be collective and are not a sum of all pair particle interactions. This state of matter is appropriate to form non-linear dissipative collective self-organized structures.

Pressure Effects on Non-Linear Optical Phenomena
1999The effect of pressure has been measured for two non-linear optical phenomena: second harmonic generation (SHG) in organic crystals and one and two photon fluorescence excitations in a molecule dissolved in an organic polymer. Both sets of results are discussed in terms of theory.

Non-Linear Phenomena in Beam-Plasma Interaction
Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1967A modulated weak electron beam is injected into a low-density diffused plasma and growth rates of convective instabilities are observed. The growth rates obtained experimentally are in pretty good agreement with those calculated from the dispersion relation including only the collisional damping effect if the beam density is relatively low. However, if

Non-linear phenomena in films of solar arrays
20th Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Conference, 1979The paper assesses nonlinear effects in films which are associated with the instability of their shape as a result of contractions during longitudinal and transverse in-plane oscillations. The following problems are solved analytically: transverse in-plane oscillations, longitudinal oscillations in films of rotating solar sail, transverse in-plane ...

On Extraordinary Phenomena in a Non-linear Forced Oscillation
Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1955The non-linear forced oscillation represented by \(\ddot{x}-dF(x)/dx{=}p\cos\omega t\) is discussed. Transforming this equation to the variational form, the Ritz method is applied to obtain the solution in the form of Fourier series. Concerning this solution, extraordinary points of two different kinds are distinguished.
