The newfound relationship between extrachromosomal DNAs and excised signal circles
Extrachromosomal DNAs (ecDNAs) contribute to the progression of many human cancers. In addition, circular DNA by‐products of V(D)J recombination, excised signal circles (ESCs), have roles in cancer progression but have largely been overlooked. In this Review, we explore the roles of ecDNAs and ESCs in cancer development, and highlight why these ...

Influence of Non-Linearity on Selected Cryptographic Criteria of 8x8 S-Boxes
The article defines standard criteria used to characterize the cryptographic quality of the S box: regularity, non linearity, autocorrelation, avalanche and immunity against differential cryptanalysis.

Testing non-linearity using a modified Q test [PDF]
A new version of the Q test, based on generalized residual correlations (i.e. auto-correlations and cross-correlations), is developed in this paper. The Q test fixes two main shortcomings of the Mcleod and Li Q (MLQ) test often used in the literature: (i)

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Dependencies in political studies (non-linearity and typical methodological errors) [PDF]
The article raises the question of studying the statistical dependencies in a sociological research. Most sociologists, if they study cause and effect relations, offer interpretations of only linear relations and linear models based on their data ...

Long memory and non-linearity in Stock Markets [PDF]
In this paper the long memory and non-linear properties of share prices in the UK’s Stock Exchange and AIM are explored. The results suggest that the most commonly traded shares exhibit long memory thus raising interesting issues about the validity of ...

The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Solar-Terrestrial Data Science: Prior Experience and Future Prospects
Acquisition of relatively large data sets based on measurements in the interplanetary medium, throughout Earth's magnetosphere, and from ground-based platforms has been a hallmark of the heliophysics discipline for several decades.
