ABSTRACT This study develops a comprehensive framework for assessing time and state‐dependent aftershock damage accumulation under an M9.0 megathrust interface earthquake in the Cascadia Subduction Zone (CSZ). The framework integrates aftershock probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (APSHA) and state‐dependent fragility analysis (SDFA) within a ...

Effects of Age on Resting‐State Cortical Networks
ABSTRACT Understanding how ageing affects brain function remains a central challenge in neuroscience. Electrophysiological brain imaging techniques provide a near‐direct measure of neuronal activity, which is useful for characterising neurophysiological health.

Non‐Markovian Exceptional Points in Waveguide Quantum Electrodynamics
Non‐Markovian waveguide‐QED systems exhibit dynamical transitions governed by exceptional points arising from retardation and interference. Giant atoms and spatially separated emitters display oscillatory relaxation and real zeros in the excited‐state amplitude at critical delay times.

A New Parametric Accelerated Failure Time Model for Semi‐Competing Risks Data
ABSTRACT In cohort studies, the occurrence of a specific disease is often of main interest. For proper modeling, death as a competing risk should be accounted for. Especially, the “semi‐competing” character of the data has to be acknowledged: Disease occurrence (the non‐terminal event) can be observed before death (the terminal event), but not vice ...

Evaluating the optimal duration of medication treatment for opioid use disorder
Abstract Background and aims Clinicians have little guidance on the ideal length of time patients should remain on medication treatment for opioid use disorder (MOUD) before being able to safely discontinue MOUD. This study estimated how the risk of all‐cause mortality changes with the duration of MOUD, controlling for patient characteristics that ...

Understanding the Hygienic Behavioral Dynamics of Ants Using Multi‐State Models
Leaf‐cutting ants adjust grooming to pathogen risk and vulnerable nestmates. Multi‐state Markov models reveal shorter, frequent self‐grooming bouts and reduced allogrooming persistence under stress, optimizing social immunity via stigmergic decision‐making.

ABSTRACT Mulberry is a representative economic tree species valued for both poverty alleviation and medicinal use. To advance the understanding of mulberry genomics and demography, we assembled high‐quality haploid genomes of two widely cultivated mulberry varieties NS14 and QS1, and analysed 376 accessions from 12 countries, including 39 ancient trees

This study applies stochastic rainfall models combining Markov Chains with gamma and mixed exponential distributions to a semi‐arid climate in Northeast Brazil. Model structures were evaluated using Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC), with maximum likelihood (MLM) for parameter estimation and cumulative distribution functions (CDFs) for validation ...
