On the Inheritance of Orbifold Substructures [PDF]

open access: yesTopology and its Applications, vol. 232, 2017, pp. 176-182, 2016
In a previous article, we defined a very flexible notion of suborbifold and characterized those suborbifolds which can arise as the images of orbifold embeddings. In particular, suborbifolds are images of orbifold embeddings precisely when they are saturated and split.

Biochemical genetics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1951
The field under review is growing so rapidly that it is impossible to cover more than a sampling of recent papers in the allotted space. Important subjects such as the genetics and chemistry of viruses and certain topics in bacterial genetics have had ...

Hyperalphalipoproteinemia and Beyond: The Role of HDL in Cardiovascular Diseases

open access: yesLife, 2021
Hyperalphalipoproteinemia (HALP) is a lipid disorder characterized by elevated plasma high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) levels above the 90th percentile of the distribution of HDL-C values in the general population.

Inheritance of flower colour in Desmodium gangeticum (L.) DC. [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Plant Breeding, 2014
The present experiment was conducted with the aim to study the inheritance pattern of flower colour in Desmodium gangeticum. Populations of two parental lines having two different flower colours, white (DDG 18) and pink (DDG 8) were used for study.

Epigenetic memory in mammals

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics, 2011
Epigenetic information can be passed on from one generation to another via DNA methylation, histone modifications and changes in small RNAs, a process called epigenetic memory.

INHERITANCE OF RESISTANCE TO PStV IN TRANSGENIC PEANUTS CONTAINING cp PStV GENE

open access: yesJurnal Hama dan Penyakit Tumbuhan Tropika, 2011
Inheritance of Resistance to PStV in Transgenic Peanuts Containing cp PStV Gene. We have obtained transgenic peanut lines containing coat protein gene of PStV. To get maximal use of the transgenic character in a breeding program, it is necessary that the

Future trends in Animal Breeding due to new genetic tecnologies

open access: yes, 2011
The Darwin theory of evolution by natural selection is based on three principles: (a) variation; (b) inheritance; and (c) natural selection. Here, I take these principles as an excuse to review some topics related to the future research prospects in ...

The Extended (Evolutionary) Synthesis Debate: Where Science Meets Philosophy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Recent debates between proponents of the modern evolutionary synthesis (the standard model in evolutionary biology) and those of a possible extended synthesis are a good example of the fascinating tangle among empirical, theoretical, and conceptual or ...

The GhWL1‐GhH1‐GhGA2OX1 Transcriptional Module Regulates Cotton Leaf Morphology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identified GhWL1 as a key gene involved in regulating leaf development through analysis of a T‐DNA insertion mutant. The GhWL1‐GhH1 complex is shown to positively regulate GhGA2OX1 by directly binding to its promoter, thereby establishing the GhWL1‐GhH1‐GhGA2OX1 module as a critical pathway in leaf development.

Using reported pathogenic variants to identify therapeutic opportunities for genetic diseases

open access: yesMolecular Genetics &Genomic Medicine, Volume 11, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
The increase in size of publicly available variant annotation and Mendelian disease databases have allowed for novel approaches to identify the likely direction of effect of genetic mutations. Specifically, we found a simple ratio of missense mutations is capable of identifying genes likely to cause disease through a gain‐of‐function mechanism ...
