Probabilistic Logic Programming under Inheritance with Overriding [PDF]
We present probabilistic logic programming under inheritance with overriding. This approach is based on new notions of entailment for reasoning with conditional constraints, which are obtained from the classical notion of logical entailment by adding the principle of inheritance with overriding.

An Application of Total-Colored Graphs to Describe Mutations in Non-Mendelian Genetics [PDF]
Any gene mutation during the mitotic cell cycle of a eukaryotic cell can be algebraically represented by an isotopism of the evolution algebra describing the genetic pattern of the inheritance process.

Crossovers between epigenesis and epigenetics. A multicenter approach to the history of epigenetics (1901-1975) [PDF]
The origin of epigenetics has been traditionally traced back to Conrad Hal Waddington's foundational work in 1940s. The aim of the present paper is to reveal a hidden history of epigenetics, by means of a multicenter approach.

Abstract Background Leucine‐rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) p.L1795F variant was proposed as a genetic risk factor for Parkinson's disease (PD). However, its prevalence, phenotype, and origin remain unknown. Objective The aim was to evaluate the frequency and phenotype of p.L1795F in early‐onset PD (EOPD) and familial PD compared to healthy controls (HC ...

Intensional Inheritance Between Concepts: An Information-Theoretic Interpretation [PDF]
This paper addresses the problem of formalizing and quantifying the concept of "intensional inheritance" between two concepts. We begin by conceiving the intensional inheritance of $W$ from $F$ as the amount of information the proposition "x is $F$ " provides about the proposition "x is $W$.

Predicted Molecular Effects of Sequence Variants Link to System Level of Disease.
Developments in experimental and computational biology are advancing our understanding of how protein sequence variation impacts molecular protein function.

Implications of the Reduction Principle for Cosmological Natural Selection [PDF]
Smolin (1992) proposed that the fine-tuning problem for parameters of the Standard Model might be accounted for by a Darwinian process of universe reproduction - Cosmological Natural Selection (CNS) - in which black holes give rise to offspring universes with slightly altered parameters. The laws for variation and inheritance of the parameters are also

Some properties of evolution algebras [PDF]
The paper is devoted to the study of finite dimensional complex evolu- tion algebras. The class of evolution algebras isomorphic to evolution algebras with Jordan form matrices is described.

Genetic Risk Factors in Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus: What We Know and What Is Next
Abstract Knowledge of the genetic factors in normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH) is rapidly evolving, with significant advances in recent years. We conducted a systematic review examining genetic contributions to NPH risk. Ovid Embase, Ovid Medline, Web of Science, and Cochrane Central were searched from inception through October 14, 2024, for human ...
