Effect of Deoxidizing and Alloying Routes on the Evolution of Non-Metallic Inclusions in 55SiCr Spring Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2022
Compared to the conventional deoxidation process with Al or Si-Mn for 55SiCr spring steel production, the possibility of using a Si-Ca-Ba compounded deoxidizer to control the behavior of non-metallic inclusions in spring steel was explored in this study.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Research of Non-metallic Inclusions Removal in Teeming Ladles of Various Design

open access: yesЖурнал інженерних наук, 2018
It was studied in the article the possibility of intensification of removal of non-metallic inclusions in a teeming ladle during holding without any additional external influences on the metal (argon blowing or electromagnetic stirring).

Effects of Non-Metallic Inclusions and Mean Stress on Axial and Torsion Very High Cycle Fatigue of SWOSC-V Spring Steel

open access: yesMetals, 2022
Inclusion-initiated fracture in high-strength spring steel is studied for axial and torsion very high cycle fatigue (VHCF) loading at load ratios of R = −1, 0.1 and 0.35.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Study on Control Technology of Non-metallic Inclusions in 25MnBM Steel for Track Plate

open access: yesTeshugang, 2020
The 25MnBM track plate steel is produced by 50 ton EAF short process. The control technology of TiN inclusions and the effect of RE on non-metallic inclusions in 25MnBM of steel are studied.

Characterization of non-metallic inclusions in corrosion -resistance nickel - based EP718 and 718 alloys by using electrolytic extraction method [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2019
It is known that non-metallic inclusions (NMI) that are formed during steel production and heat treatment can significantly affect the properties of final steel products.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Assessment and Improvement of Melt Quality of Recycled Secondary A357 Alloy by Application of the High Shear Melt Conditioning (HSMC) Technology

open access: yesCrystals
In addition to impurities in recycled aluminum alloys, non-metallic inclusions are a significant factor that deteriorates the material’s castability and final mechanical properties.

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.
