Oscillation of retarded difference equations with a non-monotone argument
Journal of Difference Equations and Applications, 2017AbstractThis paper concerns the oscillatory behaviour of the first-order retarded difference equation of the formΔx(n)+p(n)x(τ(n))=0,n∈N0,where (p(n))n≥0 is a sequence of nonnegative real numbers and τ(n) is a (not neccesarily monotone) sequence of integers such that τ(n)≤n-1, for n∈N0 and limn→∞τ(n)=∞.

A Survey on the Oscillation of Delay Equations with A Monotone or Non-monotone Argument
Springer Proceedings in Mathematics and Statistics, 2018Consider the first-order linear differential equation $$\begin{aligned} x^{\prime }(t)+p(t)x(\tau (t))=0,\;\;\;t\ge t_{0}, \end{aligned}$$ where the functions \(p,\tau \in C([t_{0,}\infty ),\mathbb {R}^{+})\), (here \( \mathbb {R}^{+}=[0,\infty )),\tau (t)\le t\) for \(t\ge t_{0}\) and \( \lim _{t\rightarrow \infty }\tau (t)=\infty .\) A survey ...

Oscillations of differential equations with several non-monotone advanced arguments
Dynamical Systems, 2015Consider the first-order advanced differential equation of the form where qi, 1 ≤ i ≤ m are functions of non-negative real numbers, and σi, 1 ≤ i ≤ m are functions of positive real numbers such that σi(t) > t for t ≥ t0. New oscillation criteria, involving lim sup and lim inf, are established, in the case of non-monotone advanced arguments.

An Argumentation Framework for Non-monotonic Reasoning in Description Logic
2012With the development of semantic web technology, ontology level reasoning among various agents has become an important topic. To handle the inconsistency between different knowledge bases, a non-monotonic reasoning method is always in need. However, for most approaches to non-monotonic ontology reasoning, new mechanism must be added into the reasoning ...

Modeling non-monotonic properties under propositional argumentation
SPIE Proceedings, 2013In the field of knowledge representation, argumentation is usually considered as an abstract framework for nonclassical logic. In this paper, however, we'd like to present a propositional argumentation framework, which can be used to closer simulate a real-world argumentation.

Why Non-Monotonic Logic is Inadequate to Represent Balancing Arguments
Artificial Intelligence and Law, 2003This paper analyses the logical structure of the balancing of conflicting normative arguments, and asks whether non-monotonic logic is adequate to represent this type of legal or practical reasoning. Norm conflicts are often regarded as a field of application for nonmonotonic logics. This paper argues, however, that the balancing of normative arguments

Oscillation tests for difference equations with several non-monotone deviating arguments
Mathematica Slovaca, 2018Abstract The purpose of this paper is to derive sufficient conditions for the oscillation of all solutions of a difference equation with several non-monotone deviating arguments and nonnegative coefficients. Corresponding difference equations of both retarded and advanced type are studied.
