Patch‐clamp recordings revealed that tamoxifen inhibits voltage‐gated sodium channels, especially under acidic conditions, both common in metastatic cancer cells. These effects may explain certain antitumor properties of tamoxifen, highlighting a novel mechanism of action beyond its known endocrine effects.

Subcutaneous implantation of murine Panc02 pancreatic cancer cells depleted of sST2, a soluble decoy receptor for the proinflammatory interleukin‐33 (IL‐33), leads to a decreased number of GLUT4‐positive cancer‐associated adipocytes, reduced levels of the anti‐inflammatory molecule adiponectin, increased phosphorylation of IκBα, elevated Cxcl3 ...

We propose a context‐dependent model where the Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) gene acts as a tumour suppressor in aggressive tumours and as an oncogene in less aggressive ones. We propose this model as a unified framework to explain the opposing survival associations with DMD expression and to guide experimental exploration of the dual role of DMD ...

Robust Non-Negative Matrix Tri-Factorization with Dual Hyper-Graph Regularization
Non-negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) has been an ideal tool for machine learning. Non-negative Matrix Tri-Factorization (NMTF) is a generalization of NMF that incorporates a third non-negative factorization matrix, and has shown impressive clustering ...

A Global Sampling Based Image Matting Using Non-Negative Matrix Factorization [PDF]
Image matting is a technique in which a foreground is separated from the background of a given image along with the pixel wise opacity. This foreground can then be seamlessly composited in a different background to obtain a novel scene.

The Diagonalized Newton Algorithm for Nonnegative Matrix Factorization
Non-negative matrix factorization (NMF) has become a popular machine learning approach to many problems in text mining, speech and image processing, bio-informatics and seismic data analysis to name a few.

Representation of the suggested mode of action of lactoferrin (Lf) in nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) A549 cells. Lf induces activation of caspase‐3 by activating p53 and AChE leading to decreased ACh concentrations. In turn, ACh signaling leads to activation of VEGF and AKT and blocking of caspase‐3.
