Survey on Probabilistic Models of Low-Rank Matrix Factorizations
Low-rank matrix factorizations such as Principal Component Analysis (PCA), Singular Value Decomposition (SVD) and Non-negative Matrix Factorization (NMF) are a large class of methods for pursuing the low-rank approximation of a given data matrix.

Zero-Truncated Poisson Tensor Factorization for Massive Binary Tensors [PDF]
We present a scalable Bayesian model for low-rank factorization of massive tensors with binary observations. The proposed model has the following key properties: (1) in contrast to the models based on the logistic or probit likelihood, using a zero ...

Mouse pre‐implantation development involves a transition from totipotency to pluripotency. Integrating transcriptomics, epigenetic profiling, low‐input proteomics and functional assays, we show that eight‐cell embryos retain residual totipotency features, whereas cytoskeletal remodeling regulated by the ubiquitin‐proteasome system drives progression ...

As an effective approach to gain the high-spatial-resolution hyperspectral images, data fusion is usually adopted to enhance the spatial resolution of hyperspectral images by the spatial information of multispectral images.

Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

The limitations of hyperspectral sensors usually lead to coarse spatial resolution of acquired images. A well-known fusion method called coupled non-negative matrix factorization (CNMF) often amounts to an ill-posed inverse problem with poor anti-noise ...

Early‐life exposure to a high‐fat diet altered intact Achilles tendons in rat offspring, making them thinner, stiffer, and molecularly distinct even without injury. These findings suggest that developmental high‐fat diet exposure may impair tendon quality and increase susceptibility to mechanical overload or tendon injury later in life.

Fifty Shades of Ratings: How to Benefit from a Negative Feedback in Top-N Recommendations Tasks
Conventional collaborative filtering techniques treat a top-n recommendations problem as a task of generating a list of the most relevant items. This formulation, however, disregards an opposite - avoiding recommendations with completely irrelevant items.

Association of Corticospinal Tract Asymmetry With Ambulatory Ability After Intracerebral Hemorrhage
ABSTRACT Background Ambulatory ability after intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) is important to patients. We tested whether asymmetry between ipsi‐ and contra‐lesional corticospinal tracts (CSTs) assessed by diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) is associated with post‐ICH ambulation.
