Comparison of modelling approaches for liquid fluidized beds

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract This study presents a comparison of three promising numerical models for the detailed simulation of liquid–solid fluidized bed. These models differ in their treatment of the solid phase, ranging from treating each particle individually to treating the collection of particles as a continuum.

Non-Newtonian and Gas-non–Newtonian Liquid Flow through Elbows – CFD Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2013
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis for the flow of non-Newtonian and gas-non-Newtonian liquid through elbows is presented. The commercial software Fluent 6.3 has been used for the simulation.

Generalized Runge-Kutta Method with respect to the Non-Newtonian Calculus

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2015
Theory and applications of non-Newtonian calculus have been evolving rapidly over the recent years. As numerical methods have a wide range of applications in science and engineering, the idea of the design of such numerical methods based on non-Newtonian

Comparative assessment of volume‐of‐fluid (VOF) multiphase solvers for viscoplastic flow over grooved patterned surfaces

open access: yesThe Canadian Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
Abstract Accurately simulating multiphase flows at low capillary numbers remains challenging due to spurious currents and interface discretization errors. We present a systematic comparison of four volume‐of‐fluid (VOF) solvers within the OpenFOAM framework for pressure‐driven Poiseuille–Bingham flow over grooved surfaces: interFoam with classical ...

A New Solution of Drag for Newtonian Fluid Droplets in a Power-Law Fluid

open access: yes
Understanding flow behaviors of multiple droplets in complex non-Newtonian fluids is crucial in many science and engineering applications. In this study, a new and improved analytical solution is developed based on the free surface cell model for the ...

Energy Landscapes in Chemical Reactions and Transport

open access: yesChemPhysChem, Volume 26, Issue 6, March 15, 2025.
Kinetics/dynamics of chemical reactivity and transport of chemical species in a solid are both determined by the energy landscape in which they take place. Discussing common grounds but also distinct differences may help in advancing the understanding in both fields.

Creep properties and constitutive model of diabase in deep water conveyance tunnels

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
The axial and lateral creep characteristics of diabase were analyzed based on compression creep tests. The nonlinear viscoelastic‐plastic model capable of describing the whole creep process was established based on the fractional derivative and damage theories.
