Non-orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) with Successive Interference Cancellation for Future Radio Access

open access: bronzeIEICE Transactions on Communications, 2015
SUMMARY This paper presents our investigation of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) as a novel and promising power-domain user multiplexing scheme for future radio access. Based on information theory, we can expect that NOMA with a successive interference canceller (SIC) applied to the receiver side will offer a better tradeoff between system ...

Downlink Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) in Poisson Networks [PDF]

open access: greenIEEE Transactions on Communications, 2018
A network model is considered where Poisson distributed base stations transmit to $N$ power-domain non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) users (UEs) each {that employ successive interference cancellation (SIC) for decoding}. We propose three models for the clustering of NOMA UEs and consider two different ordering techniques for the NOMA UEs: mean ...

RIS Partition-Assisted Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) and Quadrature-NOMA with Imperfect SIC

open access: goldIEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2022
Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted power-domain non-orthogonal multiple access (PD-NOMA) system has emerged as a revolutionary technology to enhance the spectrum efficiency for future wireless networks. This work introduces two novel RIS systems, namely, RIS partition-assisted (RISP) PD-NOMA (RISP-PD-NOMA) and RISP-Quadrature NOMA (RISP ...

On Power Minimization for Non-orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA)

open access: yesIEEE Communications Letters, 2016
We formulate a power optimization problem for non-orthogonal multiple access systems mathematically, and prove its NP-hardness. For tackling the problem, we first identify a convex problem by relaxation. Based on this convexity, we then propose an efficient “relax-then-adjust” algorithm and provide results of performance evaluation.

NOMA-Assisted Multiple Access Scheme for IoT Deployment: Relay Selection Model and Secrecy Performance Improvement [PDF]

open access: yesSensors, 2019
In this paper, an Internet-of-Things (IoT) system containing a relay selection is studied as employing an emerging multiple access scheme, namely non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA).

Dynamic User Clustering and Power Allocation for Uplink and Downlink Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) Systems [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2016
Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has recently been considered as a key enabling technique for 5G cellular systems. In NOMA, by exploiting the channel gain differences, multiple users are multiplexed into transmission power domain and then non ...

A New Green Prospective of Non-orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) for 5G [PDF]

open access: yesInformation, 2020
Energy efficiency is a major concern in the emerging mobile cellular wireless networks since massive connectivity is to be expected with high energy requirements from the network operators. Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) being the frontier multiple access scheme for 5G, there exists numerous research attempts on enhancing the energy efficiency ...

Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA): How It Meets 5G and Beyond [PDF]

open access: yesCoRR, 2019
Due to massive connectivity and increasing demands of various services and data-hungry applications, a full-scale implementation of the fifth generation (5G) wireless systems requires more effective radio access techniques. In this regard, non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has recently gained ever-growing attention from both academia and industry ...

Partial Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) in Downlink Poisson Networks [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2020
Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) allows users sharing a resource-block to efficiently reuse spectrum and improve cell sum rate $\mathcal{R}_{\rm tot}$ at the expense of increased interference. Orthogonal multiple access (OMA), on the other hand, guarantees higher coverage.
