Downlink Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) in Poisson Networks [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Communications, 2019
A network model is considered where Poisson distributed base stations transmit to $N$ power-domain non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) users (UEs) each {that employ successive interference cancellation (SIC) for decoding}. We propose three models for the clustering of NOMA UEs and consider two different ordering techniques for the NOMA UEs: mean ...

On Power Minimization for Non-orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA)

open access: yesIEEE Communications Letters, 2016
We formulate a power optimization problem for non-orthogonal multiple access systems mathematically, and prove its NP-hardness. For tackling the problem, we first identify a convex problem by relaxation. Based on this convexity, we then propose an efficient “relax-then-adjust” algorithm and provide results of performance evaluation.

Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) for Underwater Acoustic Communication [PDF]

open access: yes2018 IEEE 88th Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC-Fall), 2018
In this paper we investigate the application of the non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) technique for multiuser underwater acoustic (UWA) communication. The NOMA scheme can be implemented using either orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) or filterbank multicarrier (FBMC) modulation for waveform shaping.

Partial Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) in Downlink Poisson Networks [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2020
Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) allows users sharing a resource-block to efficiently reuse spectrum and improve cell sum rate $\mathcal{R}_{\rm tot}$ at the expense of increased interference. Orthogonal multiple access (OMA), on the other hand, guarantees higher coverage.

Power Allocation Evaluation for Downlink Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Advanced Computer Science and Applications, 2020
Fifth-generation of wireless cellular systems has the potential to increase capacity, spectral efficiency, and fairness among users. The Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access based wireless networks (NOMA) is the next generation multiplexing technique. NOMA breaks the orthogonality of traditional multiple access to allow multiple users to share the same radio

Dynamic User Clustering and Power Allocation for Uplink and Downlink Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) Systems [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2016
Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) has recently been considered as a key enabling technique for 5G cellular systems. In NOMA, by exploiting the channel gain differences, multiple users are multiplexed into transmission power domain and then non ...

Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) for 5G Networks

open access: yes, 2016
In this chapter, we explore the concept of non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) scheme for the future radio access for 5G. We first provide the fundamentals of the technique for both downlink and uplink channels and then discuss optimizing the network ...

Joint Power Allocation and Beamforming for Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) in 5G Millimeter Wave Communications [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications, 2017
In this paper, we explore non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) in millimeter-wave (mm-wave) communications (mm-wave-NOMA). In particular, we consider a typical problem, i.e., maximization of the sum rate of a 2-user mm-wave-NOMA system. In this problem,
