Parametric regression of 3D medical images through the exploration of non-parametric regression models

open access: yes, 2010
International audienceCurrently there is an increase usage of CT-based bone diagnosis because low-radiation and cost-effective 2D imaging modalities do not provide the necessary 3D information for bone diagnosis.

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

The comparison of three risk assessment models based on cadmium exposure level in rice

open access: yesZhongguo shipin weisheng zazhi, 2022
ObjectiveThe advantages and disadvantages of three statistical models commonly used in food contaminant exposure assessment, namely the observed individual means (OIM) model, the beta-abinomial and normal (BBN) model and the non-parametric model were ...

Fault Localization with Non-parametric Program Behavior Model [PDF]

open access: yes2008 The Eighth International Conference on Quality Software, 2008
Fault localization is a major activity in software debugging. Many existing statistical fault localization techniques compare feature spectra of successful and failed runs. Some approaches, such as SOBER, test the similarity of the feature spectra through parametric self-proposed hypothesis testing models.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Comparison of survival analysis approaches to modelling age at first sex among youth in Kisesa Tanzania.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2023
BackgroundMany studies analyze sexual and reproductive event data using descriptive life tables. Survival analysis has better power to estimate factors associated with age at first sex (AFS), but proportional hazards models may not be right model to use.

Calpain small subunit homodimerization is robust and calcium‐independent

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Calpains dimerize via penta‐EF‐hand (PEF) domains. Using single‐molecule force spectroscopy, we measured the strength and kinetics of PEF–PEF homodimer binding. The interaction is robust, shows a transient conformational step before dissociation, and remains largely insensitive to Ca2+.

Bayesian Non-Parametric Inference for Multivariate Peaks-over-Threshold Models

open access: yesEntropy
We consider a constructive definition of the multivariate Pareto that factorizes the random vector into a radial component and an independent angular component. The former follows a univariate Pareto distribution, and the latter is defined on the surface

Estimating individual tree growth with the k-nearest neighbour and k-Most Similar Neighbour methods

open access: yesSilva Fennica, 2001
The purpose of this study was to examine the use of non-parametric methods in estimating tree level growth models. In non-parametric methods the growth of a tree is predicted as a weighted average of the values of neighbouring observations.
