From 2,3-Diazabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-2-ene to Fluorazophore-L, a membrane-bound fluorescent probe for antioxidants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
The aim of this work was to synthesize and to establish a new fluorescent membrane probe for antioxidants by exploiting the exceptional properties of the long-lived fluorophore 2,3-diazabicyclo[2.2.2]oct-2-ene (DBO) alias Fluorazophore-P.

Chromosome doubling can increase heat tolerance in Lonicera japonica as indicated by chlorophyll fluorescence imaging

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2011
Imaging fluorometry was applied to investigate the tolerance of Japanese honeysuckle (Lonicera japonica Thunb.) of different ploidy levels to heat stress. Seedlings of L. japonica, the diploid cv. Damaohua and the tetraploid cv.

Overexpression of beta-carotene hydroxylase enhances stress tolerance in Arabidopsis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Plant stress caused by extreme environmental conditions is already a principal reason for yield reduction in crops. The threat of global environment change makes it increasingly important to generate crop plants that will withstand such conditions ...

Structurally Enhanced Colloidal Molecules via Carbene‐Mediated Covalent C─H Insertion Crosslinking

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents a nonspecific covalent crosslinking strategy to significantly enhance the structural stability of colloidal molecules (CMs) without compromising their inherent structural and physicochemical properties by rationally designing a diazo‐based crosslinker.

The Atmospheric Chemistry of GJ 1214b: Photochemistry and Clouds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Recent observations of the transiting super-Earth GJ 1214b reveal that its atmosphere may be hydrogen-rich or water-rich in nature, with clouds or hazes potentially affecting its transmission spectrum in the optical and very-near-IR.

Bidirectional Photoswitching of a Tailored Azobenzene with Red and Far‐Red Light Involving Triplet Sensitization in an Aqueous System

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The action spectrum of a tailored azobenzene is shifted toward bio‐optical window through the chemical modification of its singlet and triplet energy levels. Consequently, the bidirectional photo‐switching of azobenzene in physiological conditions is achieved when excited by red and far‐red light, which offers greater tissue penetration.
