Numerical investigation of forced ignition in laminar counterflow non-premixed methane-air flames

open access: yes, 2007
Simulations of forced ignition of non-premixed laminar counterflow flames are used to study the effect of strain rate on ignition success. A one dimensional calculation is performed, using detailed methane chemical kinetics and treating the spark as an ...

Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

Thermal Calculations for Co‐Firing of Hydrogen/Ammonia and Coal in 660‐MW Coal‐Fired Boilers

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT To achieve a clean energy transition under the dual carbon goals, blending hydrogen/ammonia into pulverized coal boilers represents a key technological pathway. Different hydrogen/ammonia co‐firing ratios (5%–50%) are investigated for their impact on the thermodynamic characteristics of 660‐MW supercritical boiler at 100% and 20% boiler ...

Modelling of premixed combustion in a gas turbine [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Three steady state combustion models, two turbulence models and a model for tK'6 prediction of NO., were implemented and investigated on a simple backward facing step experiment as well as an experimental lean prevaporised premixed (LPP) combustor ...

Numerical simulation on the combustion characteristics of scramjet at high Mach number

open access: yesDefence Technology
To investigate the problem of ethylene jet mixing and combustion in the scramjet at high Mach number (Ma = 8), numerical simulations were carried out for different equivalent ratios at cold and combustion conditions, in which three-dimensional steady ...

Mathematical model in the form of vorticity-stream function for porous premixed combustion [PDF]

open access: yesSongklanakarin Journal of Science and Technology (SJST), 2015
This paper proposes a mathematical model used to numerically simulate behaviors of the two-dimensional laminar premixed combustion in porous media. The governing equations proposed include vorticity-stream function equations.
