A Hybrid Local Radial Basis Function Method for the Numerical Modeling of Mixed Diffusion and Wave-Diffusion Equations of Fractional Order Using Caputo’s Derivatives

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2023
This article presents an efficient method for the numerical modeling of time fractional mixed diffusion and wave-diffusion equations with two Caputo derivatives of order ...

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Distribution Network Planning Enhancement via Network Reconfiguration and DG Integration Using Dataset Approach and Water Cycle Algorithm

open access: yesJournal of Modern Power Systems and Clean Energy, 2020
The integration of network reconfiguration and distributed generation (DG) can enhance the performances of overall networks. Thus, proper sizing and siting of DG need to be determined, otherwise it will cause degradation in system performance.

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Non-radial ground state solutions for fractional Schrödinger–Poisson systems in R2

open access: yes, 2023
Abstract Note: Please see pdf for full abstract with equations. In this paper, we study the fractional Schrödinger–Poisson system with general nonlinearity as follows: (−∆)su + u + l(x)φu = ƒ(u) in R2, (−∆)tφ = l(x)u2 in R2, where 1/2 < t ≤ s < 1, the potential l ∈ C(R2, R+) and the nonlinearity ƒ ∈ C(R, R) does not ...

POSITIVE SOLUTIONS TO A NON-RADIAL SUPERCRITICAL KLEIN–GORDON-TYPE EQUATION [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Edinburgh Mathematical Society, 2006
AbstractWe find positive solutions to a nonlinear equation of Klein–Gordon type. Our analysis is carried out by truncating the related functional and estimating mountain pass solutions by Moser’s iterative scheme.

Salmonella lipopolysaccharide‐containing supported lipid bilayers as platforms to study bacteriophage interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We present robust protocols for the preparation of supported lipid bilayers (SLBs) incorporating either Salmonella smooth LPS or outer membrane vesicles (OMVs). We use a combination of quartz crystal microbalance with dissipation (QCM‐D) and fluorescence microscopy to both characterize the SLBs of various compositions and to probe their interactions ...

A meshless method for non-linear Poisson problems with high gradients

open access: yesComputer Assisted Methods in Engineering and Science, 2022
A meshless method for the solution of linear and non-linear Poisson-type problems involving high gradients is presented. The proposed method is based on collocation with 3rd order polynomial radial basis function coupled with the fundamental solution ...

Investigating transcription factor dynamics in health and disease using FRAP

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
FRAP analysis of GFP‐tagged transcription factors reveals how molecular mobility and target engagement change in response to drug treatment. By combining live‐cell imaging, quantitative model fitting, and statistical analysis, this approach uncovers transcription factor dynamics linked to disease mechanisms, providing a powerful framework for ...
