Individuals With Multijoint Osteoarthritis Demonstrate Larger Longitudinal Declines in Frailty: Data From the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that multijoint osteoarthritis would modify the relation between time and frailty progression, in which more affected joints would lead to larger declines over six years compared to those without osteoarthritis using data from the Canadian Longitudinal Study on Aging.

stu Black Holes Unveiled

open access: yesEntropy, 2008
The general solutions of the radial attractor flow equations for extremal black holes, both for non-BPS with non-vanishing central charge Z and for Z = 0, are obtained for the so-called stu model, the minimal rank-3 N = 2 symmetric supergravity in d = 4 ...

Revisiting Stability Criteria in Ball‐Milled High‐Entropy Alloys: Do Hume–Rothery and Thermodynamic Rules Equally Apply?

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 27, Issue 6, March 2025.
The stability criteria affecting the formation of high‐entropy alloys, particularly focusing in supersaturated solid solutions produced by mechanical alloying, are analyzed. Criteria based on Hume–Rothery rules are distinguished from those derived from thermodynamic relations. The formers are generally applicable to mechanically alloyed samples.

Charged isotropic non-Abelian dyonic black branes

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2015
We construct black holes with a Ricci-flat horizon in Einstein–Yang–Mills theory with a negative cosmological constant, which approach asymptotically an AdSd spacetime background (with d≥4). These solutions are isotropic, i.e.

Characterization of Defect Distribution in an Additively Manufactured AlSi10Mg as a Function of Processing Parameters and Correlations with Extreme Value Statistics

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Uniform electric field solutions in Einstein–Maxwell-Dilaton gravity

open access: yesEuropean Physical Journal C: Particles and Fields
We revisit static, spherically symmetric black hole solutions within the framework of Einstein–Maxwell-Dilaton (EMD) theory, assuming a constant (uniform) Maxwell invariant.

Solution of Helmholtz eigenvalue problems with non-regular domains using the direct interpolation technique

open access: yesPartial Differential Equations in Applied Mathematics
This work aims to evaluate the performance of the Direct Interpolation Boundary Element Method solving Helmholtz problems that present no regular geometric shapes.

A Simplified Laminar Flow Model for the Pultrusion of Glass Fiber/Polyethylene Terephthalate Commingled Yarns

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A simplified thermoplastic pultrusion model is developed to predict thermal fields in glass fiber/polyethylene terephthalate (GF/PET) composites with reduced computational cost. By combining effective material homogenization, validation against literature data, and Gaussian‐process‐based optimization, the study reveals how heating limits, pulling speed,

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.

On nodal ground states for Schrodinger systems

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations
In this article we characterize the least energy nodal and semi-nodal solutions to some Schrodinger system as the minimum on constrained Nehari sets of codimension 4 and 3, respectively; thus allowing to compute their Morse index and the exact number ...
