Orthogonal Ionic Liquid‐Based Extraction Strategy Enables Amyloid‐Specific Profiling of Aggregate Proteome

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An orthogonal ionic‐liquid extraction (Orth‐iEA) enables selective isolation of amyloid fibrils. TMGBF4 disrupts hydrogen‐bonded β‐sheet networks to solubilize amyloid aggregates, whereas C12ImCl interacts with hydrophobic regions of non‐amyloid proteins.

Stable Diffusion Models Reveal a Persisting Human–AI Gap in Visual Creativity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study examines visual creativity in humans and generative AI using the TCIA framework. Human artists outperform AI overall, yet structured human guidance substantially improves AI outputs and evaluations. Findings reveal that alignment with human creativity depends critically on contextual framing, highlighting both the promise and current ...

OBDA Over Non-Relational Databases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The database landscape has been significantly diversified during the last decade, resulting in the emergence of a variety of non-relational (also called NoSQL) databases, e.g., XML and JSON-document databases, key-value stores, and graph databases. To facilitate access to such databases and to enable data integration of non-relational data sources, we ...

A Logical Model and Data Placement Strategies for MEMS Storage Devices

open access: yes, 2008
MEMS storage devices are new non-volatile secondary storages that have outstanding advantages over magnetic disks. MEMS storage devices, however, are much different from magnetic disks in the structure and access characteristics.

Performance Impact of Optimization Methods on MySQL Document-Based and Relational Databases

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2021
Databases are an important part of today’s applications where large amounts of data need to be stored, processed, and accessed quickly. One of the important criteria when choosing to use a database technology is its data processing performance.

Performance of the relational and non-relational databases

open access: yes, 2023
There are many types of databases, but the most common are relational and non-relational. These databases have different structures, and that affects their performance. Many studies examine the differences between relational and non-relational databases and compare them regarding performance.

From ternary relationship to relational tables: a case against common beliefs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
The transformation from n-ary relationships to a relational database schema has never been really fully analyzed. This paper presents one of the several ternary cases ignored by the ER-to-RM literature.

The Role of Social Food Infrastructure in Addressing SNAP Participation Gaps: Evidence From Linked Administrative and Ground‐Sourced Data

open access: yesApplied Economic Perspectives and Policy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We link American Community Survey and SNAP records for 185,000 units with ground‐sourced social food infrastructure data from FindFoodIL (Illinois Extension SNAP‐Ed) to examine SNAP participation determinants among eligible units. Bivariate probit models reveal, beyond SNAP offices, quantity of social infrastructure is associated with ...

Graphical Notation for Document Database Modeling

open access: yesОткрытое образование (Москва), 2021
Goals and objectives. Graphical models have proven to be a reliable, clear and convenient tool for creating sketch models of databases. Most of the existing notations are designed for the relational data model, the dominant data model for the last thirty
